  1. I hate the name, but considering everything in the Redemption Square area of GP was going to be single family suburban houses, I'm glad to see a mixed-use area emerge out of the rubble of the market crash. Good for McCord, but let's put some more time and effort on naming the next phases...
  2. Sorry guys, can't find the right thread, but the latest Planning Commission Agenda has the Heights HEB on the agenda for the meeting on the 10th. I know it's not the right thread, but since there has been some discussion of this I figured I'd post it here. Looks to be two levels of parking with the store itself on the 2nd floor.
  3. I thought he meant that he hopes the construction takes its usual longish time rather than it starting and stopping like the demolition.
  4. It's another segment of infrastructure, which is inherently political. Not that I disagree...
  5. I can't find the thread, but I believe it's the multi family project one block north of Washington
  6. I will say the amount of retail on bottom makes the proposal edge out over every other similar tower proposal we've seen.
  7. Can't wait for the next update where the remove the tower completely and it's just a parking garage. Edit: I do count 28 stories though.
  8. True, but I'm sure Whole Foods is anxious to get their store up, and having a grocery store below will be a big enough draw for potential renters.
  9. I mean I get your point, but in the arts world that $200 million comes from private donors/fundraising, correct? Asking those donors to double their donation is not a simple task, and throwing out numbers like you did makes it seem like it's an obvious choice, but $200,000,000 + an extra $200,000,000? I mean...that's a lot of zeros...
  10. Yeah I believe the sign now advertises Nabors
  11. End of an era* *that era being torn Achilles and ACL's
  12. Yeah but the Astros are an extension of the "Space City" vibe that Houston has, like the Rockets. The Texans tho...
  13. This isn't so much a "redevelopment" than it is a "rearrangement of the buildings." It's like a bomb went off in the middle of the mall and all the stores scattered to the boundaries of their land. And look at all that parking...
  14. No, it can't be the Hurricanes. We have so many badass, inoffensive animals on this planet and the big wigs at Klien can't think of anything more creative than weather? What is this, an Arena Football League? The CFL? I mean, it'd be so easy to talk shit to them; "Ohhhh hey here come the Hurricanes, ready to blow us away" etc. In short, weather mascots are THE WORST.
  15. I'm with you up until that last line. I'm not exactly sure why, but when I find that out, I'm sure it'll be a hypocritical revelation on my part.
  16. Condo's vs. Apartments. We have a huge supply of apartments coming but no condos downtown other than this. It makes sense for this to break ground first.
  17. I mean, a library already exists in the "arts realm." Literature is one of the several basic forms of art. Think of this as an expansion to the other forms of art.
  18. Their FB page (which btw, is horribly inefficient at "getting the word out" since FB is the worst) mentioned that "after listening to landowners and their concerns, the line will be elevated for most of the route" So the issue of it being a "Great Wall of Texas" seems to have dwindled a bit.
