@Surge Homes, Do you have any plans to build any more condos in downtown, or will you wait and see how this first project does first? Also, do you have any plans to eventually build a high-rise condo building, or are you just focusing on mid-rise condos right now? Thanks.

No. It's a different site. It's right next to the Metro building along the light rail.

Great news. I'm glad to see that downtown is still an option. In my opinion, this line has to get downtown to be successful. Otherwise, there wouldn't really be much of an advantage to flying. I think downtown would attract more people from Dallas than a Northwest Mall location would.

I think it would be pretty cool if they could build something like the Canton Tower in Guangzhou on top of a high speed rail station, along with some hotels and high rise residential. I think the views from an observation tower would be amazing from this area.

This looks very nice. Should be great for Midtown.

I don't know. From my experience, it seemed like there was a high rise going up on almost every block between the space needle and the main business district.

Yes, I've been to Seattle and was also amazed at the number of high rises popping up. Like you said, they have a lot of high rises (mostly residential) that are actively under construction and nearly topping out, while most of Houston's downtown buildings are still proposed or just starting. Does anyone else maybe know why Seattle's construction boom started about one or two years earlier than Houston's following the recession? Overall, my opinion of the city was pretty similar to yours. Seattle is a great place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there. It was kind of a shock to me. I did some searching on the internet and apparently Seattle has 100 active projects just in their downtown as of June 2014. That includes 5 permitted, 50 currently under construction, and 45 completed since January 2013. 64 of those buildings were residential. Here's the link in case anyone else wants to take a look. http://www.downtownseattle.com/resources/development-and-construction-projects/

You were saying that you would rather be in a high rise in the Galleria because of the shopping. I was just stating some other factors that people might take into account besides shopping which might influence them to choose a downtown high rise over an Uptown high rise.

Do you know if this building will still be completed before the Super Bowl?

So would I. There's Minute Maid Park, Toyota Center, and Discovery Green, plus it's only a short train ride to NRG Stadium. There's also the theater district with the symphony, orchestra, opera, ballet, and Alley Theater. I also think that the views from this highrise will be much better than anything in Uptown.

I'm surprised Seattle didn't make the top 10. It sure seems like they have a lot of under construction buildings, especially in their downtown.

This one sure is taking a long time considering it is just a 5 story apartment building.

I love this guy's ambition. I wish Houston had someone with this type of vision for downtown.

Good for Dallas. These towers will really change their skyline. Maybe when Houston fills up more of its downtown, we can justify getting another supertall.

Ok, thanks. My mistake.

The Chron article says it will be next to the House of Blues. It seems we have conflicting information.

It says it will be on Avenida de las Americas, so does that mean it will go on the big lot next to the Marriott Marquis?
