  1. Wow! Very nice. I couldn't even tell that was Dallas at first.
  2. Maybe from certain views it will look like it flows into midtown, but not from most. It would be even further up on the front lawn than Heritage Plaza is and there would be nothing in front of it. That's why I would want it to go in the center of our downtown so our skyline would look good from every angle.
  3. I guess I just have different preferences than you guys. I prefer the parabola shape, with buildings leading up to a peak .The Bank of the Southwest block isn't the ideal spot to achieve this, but it's the best lot available. If a super tall was built on 5 Allen's lot, then it would look like our skyline leads up to a peak and just drops off to nothing.
  4. I actually think 5 Allen's site would be one of the worst spots for a super tall. We need a super tall to go in the middle so it would balance out our skyline from all views. I'm thinking that the Bank of the Southwest lot is still the best option.
  5. TMC or Herman Park would be my preferred locations for another Skyhouse.
  6. I'm pretty sure that the Dallas one is under construction right now, not cancelled.
  7. What? Uptown is no where near as dense as downtown and definitely won't have more density soon. Uptown has a lot of projects under construction, but downtown isn't sitting still. There are well over 30 under construction/proposed projects in downtown.
  8. Great news! I'm excited for another residential high rise in downtown. Now if we could just get a condo tower.
  9. Great news! This is the residential project I am most excited about.
  10. Great job Metro West! Now if we could just get a supertall with a spire right in the middle, our skyline would be perfect from that view!
  11. For comparison, here’s a list of under construction projects in downtown Houston. 609 Main at Texas: 48-story office building Market Square Tower: 40-story residential building Marriot Marquis: 29-story hotel 1111 Travis: 24-story office building 1311 Louisiana: 16-story parking garage Hampton Inn/Homewood Suites: 14-story hotel 700 Crawford: 7-story residential building Convention Center Office/Hotel: 6-story office/parking garage with plans for a 14-20 hotel on top Block 334: 5-story residential We also have about 5 or 6 mid-rise projects under construction in Midtown. Overall, I'd say that Houston is pretty comparable to Dallas in the number of projects going up in and around its downtown, but Houston has a little more height.
  12. I think that map is missing a lot of their projects. Dallas' uptown/downtown area has a couple years head start on our downtown area. They have a lot of recently completed and under construction projects while most of ours are just starting. However, most of theirs are in the 20-story range while we have a couple proposed/under construction at or above 40-stories.
  13. This won't be receiving the downtown incentives, right?
  14. The back side is seeing a lot of development and should look better in a couple of years. Here are some pictures. Here is my favorite view of Houston. It really shows the quantity of buildings in the skyline.
  15. Any added density is definitely welcome downtown. I'm excited for all these residential projects to get started!
  16. I really like this tower's design. I hope you're right about them looking to build downtown. I'm still waiting for downtown to get a new condo high rise tower.
  17. I bet you're right. I personally would rather have a Hyatt Place in downtown.
  18. Wow, that actually looks pretty good! I agree that not everything downtown needs to be a skyscraper. There are enough parking lots to fill some of them with smaller buildings. This area is going to look really nice when all of these projects are done.
  19. I don't know about the most beautiful in Houston, but it will definitely be up there. I still like the old Gulf building and Bank of America better, but this might be my third favorite.
  20. I think it is a good idea to send the route through College Station, so they still have the option for future growth. They can still go through College Station without making a stop there when the line initially opens. When they deem that there is a large enough market in College Station, then they can build a station and start making stops there. Maybe a few of the Houston to Dallas trips can make stops in College Station, while the majority go without any stops. I just think it is a good idea to leave all options open.
  21. This is going to be really good for Downtown. Vancouver has a lot of those ground-level units and I always thought those were pretty neat. I think the Sovereign is going to have them too.
