houstonsemipro
I think this project is a go. Several of the employees my mom works with park in those three lots. She received an email today that they can no longer park there and will have to look for alternative parking.Still doesn't mean anything. When they brake ground, trucks, workers and a crane starts to move in that's when I'll say the Houston Pavilions is going up. Until then, I doubt it. KimberlySayWhat
I e-mailed the GHCVB again and axed them about it. They responded, "possibly next week, the equipment is on site".
Trae
If they are afraid that the market is too weak, then I promise them that it will go big once it breaks down. Almost like Victory in Dallas. Once the first phase started construction, new proposals happened everywhere. Same would happen with the Pavilions. I guess it is happening because I found these new renderings at the House of Blues website: From Carolina St. From Dallas St. From inside the Pavilions At first I couldn't even find the Houston location on their website.
mls1202
Am I the only one who finds the renderings above of HOB kinda underwhelming? I'm curious as to the cladding material shown as gray rectangles. It is supposed to be stone, or *gasp* vinyl siding from Sears (or some other type of similar material). They are obviously going for the industrial loft style with the exposed girders and what I suppose is cement.

KimberlySayWhat
I don't know. Maybe they put the equipment in place as of yesterday. Perhaps someone can go by today and take some pics.
WesternGulf
It seems like they are on schedule. Th three lots will be closed at the end of today.
Trae
So I am guessing the last time the Pavilions was said to ground break, the lots remained opened. Now they are actually closing them. Sounds good.

ricco67
Most likely metal panels. Either painted aluminum or, if they get fancy, zinc.there are a bunch of barrels there, as well as two of those concrete containers that you use to hoist to different parts of the site.i think someone screwed up and ordered those early. UrbaNerd
I guess the groundhog didn't see his shadow, then! No waiting 6 more weeks for a "groundbreaking date"!
C2H
does anyone know if they decided to put the residential back in the project?
musicman
does anyone know if they decided to put the residential back in the project?i read an article a few weeks ago that mentioned the residential aspect was being removed. so i doubt it. houstonsemipro
I rather a cinema to take the place of the residental. All they need is 10-12 screen cinema. Angekia Theater is kinda far away from Main St. People and students from U of H Downtown would like to take the metrorail to the Pavilions to go see a movie. sevfiv
Angekia Theater is kinda far away from Main St.it's only about four blocks from main to angelika (and two from the preston station to texas)
tierwestah
it's only about four blocks from main to angelika (and two from the preston station to texas)Who cares about angelika. Gimmie an Edwards or Super Cinema downtown. Angelika's movie selections are too limited!
Trae
Put a Movie Tavern downtown in the Pavilions.
houstonsemipro
Excellent choice, Trae. Better yet, a Alamo Drafthouse, or StarCinema Grill. Make it a 10-12 screens. An Edwards, or a AMC I can't see happening downtown.
houstonfella
I agree with the idea that Alamo Drafthouse type of movie theaters would work best in Houston Pavilions. Let's face it, going to a regular movie theater is Gone With the Wind. Imagine HP with Lucky Strike, House of Blues, state-of-the-art movie theaters and great restaurants. This will work. Downtown Houston is ready.
Trae
Let's get a 10-15 screen Movie Tavern in there or close to the Pavilions. That would really work in Downtown.

77017
No, 2/5/07 is actually just the date they will push the date back again. Now when 2/5 rolls around and nothin' happens, watch all the dopes who don't know this project's dead say "Awww man, well don't worry its still gonna happen" Some groundbreaking. ricco67
Some groundbreaking. maybe they count the ground buckling under the equipment as a breaking?
