Looks like their crowd-funding campaign didn't get the necessary traction and it was withdrawn.

Sounds like this was a possible tenant according to the video. This building is going to take some good money to get in working order. An established tenant will make more sense ... but let's see what happens.

Harris County records indicate 3100 McKinney St changed hands recently. There is a special warranty deed recorded to the county's database about two weeks ago.

Curry Ventures LLC is the listed buyer. It appears the entity is tied to Derek Curry, "the founder and owner of clothing and sneaker boutique Sneaker Politics," according to a profile published in The Advocate.  Sneaker Politics has locations in Austin and Dallas.

I don't know if Curry's acquisition of 3100 McKinney means Sneaker Politics will be located there. As for previously announced Blanc Noir leasing the first floor of the building, I'm unsure if it's moving forward or not.

Prior to Curry Ventures' purchase of 3100 McKinney, Ancorian owned the EaDo property.

Last month, Inroads Realty announced the sale of 3100 McKinney St. The announcement also confirms Politics / Sneaker Politics is opening there.

Inroads Realty's announcement on Instagram:

Inroads Realty is proud to announce the sale of 3100 McKinney Street in Houston, TX. Sneaker Politics, a Louisana-based sneaker & contemporary streetwear boutique, purchased the property. The buyer was represented by Taylor LeMaster and Kyndall Misak. The seller was represented by Jonas Fertitta of Ancorian.

McKinney is really starting to make something of itself. What are the chances the TIRZ makes it a more hospitable street before it's too late?

Would really love to see the roadway narrowed to reduce speeds (that ghost bike at the CT intersection came from a car going >70mph, iirc), sidewalks widened, and high-comfort bicycle facilities added. There's plenty of ROW for it.

I think the long-term success of EaDo will be defined by its willingness to remain above the off-street parking fray. That'll require more places that are pleasant to walk or bike around.

It was a speeding motorcycle

Point being, long, runwayesque streets originally (re?)designed for trucks pulling out of warehouses are dangerously tempting to the city's many speeders.

Given the likely impact of NHHIP on St. Emmanuel and the five or six currently active or planned developments along McKinney, I could see a well-designed McKinney street emerging as a true main street for EaDo.

But as development picks up, if the district doesn't get ahead of that, it will be really hard to convince drivers that they don't need all of that right of way for cars.

Anyway, this project looks cool. I like that building.

Yeah, if you asked me to find a street in EaDo to do 80 MPH on, it would def be McKinney.

The TIRZ did have a McKinney rebuild option as part of their public meeting like a year ago and it did receive some votes but was in the middle of the list at best.

Won't solve the overall issue of high speed traffic on McKinney, but traffic at this particular location will likely travel more slowly in four years. This building is approximately 1,000 feet from where McKinney will dead end when York is trenched.

Drivers may find themselves airborne shortly after passing this location if traveling away from downtown at highway-like speeds like in the story. When headed toward downtown, Sampson and Roberts will be the only entry points to McKinney before this building.

All the more reason to make it a pedestrian-priority space!
