The first of many presidents to be indicted?  Careful what you wish for...

Sadly, I'm afraid that we're headed down a path where indictment and/or actual incarceration becomes almost expected for leaders, like it is in Central & South America:

Former leaders have been jailed or charged all over the world

It's sad, American Politics have legit become a joke. We're obsessed with electing the oldest and most problematic people to run our country, and all they're obsessed with is topics that legit doesn't affect most of us Americans; Abortion, gender pronouns, and pointing the finger at the other political group. Instead we should be focusing on:

  • Better regulating our foods; we legit allow a huge list of products that are banned in A LOT of countries. Products that have been proven to increase risk of cardiovascular dz, Alzheimers, ADHD, etc. It can anything from a product in a salad dressing, we're being slowly poisoned for profit.
  • Gun violence/crime; I'm sure we all can all attest that this is becoming worse and worse with absolutely nothing being done. America as a whole does not feel as safe as it used to, the entire justice system is broken.
  • Healthcare; the pharmaceutical companies are legit uncharging EVERYONE. The same exact medication you buy here can be bought across the border (Canada or Mexico) for a fraction of the price from the SAME EXACT COMPANY. This benefits no one but the pharmaceutical companies themselves, they're legit scamming all of us and making sure they have politicians on their side to prevent any change from happening.
  • Infrastructure; it honestly baffles me that a country as rich as America has streets like lower Westheimer. Our streets, rail, bridges, even our some of our airports are very outdated. I don't want to hear how this is very expensive for us to maintain when we send BILLIONS to other countries "military aids."

Our politicians stopped putting America first and its really starting to show, they're all sell outs.

Spending money on roads is "socialism" and leads straight to communism according to some folks. If you want good roads, you need to build them yourself and quit stealing from the productive members of society

I suspect that the 50.5% of the US population that doesn't have a penis might take issue with your characterization of abortion as something that doesn't affect most of us.

Contrary, I feel like men have the bigger issue since most of our politicians trying to control abortion are in fact MALE. Also, yes, 50% of the US population are women, but of those 50% only 0.01% of women in the US actually go through abortion. So we (specifically our MALE politicians) are so worried about gas lighting the US about controlling/ eliminating abortion for 0.01% of the population......which in other words does not affect the majority of us.

There may be some overlap, but I think you'll find that people who put a high priority on the second amendment are the ones arming themselves against crime rather than moaning about it.  The primary reason you'll find second amendment advocates opposing gun control is the belief that the end goal is abridgement of the second amendment and complete confiscation of all firearms (see Australia et al.)

So we should just not do anything about the mass/school shootings? And the answer is just to supply everyone with MORE guns? All because we're worried about the "what if" instead of worrying about the crime thats currently going on?

Biden didn't cause any of those. That all would have happened regardless of who sits in the Oval Office.

Perhaps, although an administration opposed to fossil fuels doesn't help gas prices.  Which in turn drives other goods higher.  Regardless, he gets to take the blame.

You can argue prices would have gone up anyway, but the percentages would likely have been different.  Swing voters in 2024 won't likely give much weight to the list in blue, but they will remember that their cost of living is much higher than it was 4 years prior.  That's why the Democratic party has fully embraced banana republic tactics of late.

OPEC has more to do with gas prices than Biden.

Perhaps, but shutting down pipelines and publicly stating he wants to eliminate fossil fuels has it's effect.  Plus, it makes him the visible target for higher prices going into 2024.

Now we pretty much have to elect Trump in 2024, whether we like it or not.

Democratic party operatives have already shown that impeaching during a election year and burning and rioting in American cities in the run up to the election can influence the presidential election.  Now, if they are successful with this they will prove that weaponizing the legal system and pursuing political prosecutions can also influence the presidential election.  If they are successful with that you can be sure that you will be seeing these tactics used over and over and over again every election cycle from now on.

Good job Dems, I'm sure y'all thought this all the way through.

If Trump had not committed crimes, he would not be indicted. It's really that simple. I would hope that any politician that did what he did would be indicted and tried.

Why would anyone use his tactics after seeing him suffer the consequences of his own actions? Trump and his son in law has legit called their supporters "stupid" and the shoe is clearly fitting.

Trump supporters constantly proving our point that he could literally "shoot someone and wouldn't loose any voters" - Trump himself. Its actually crazy how Culty his following is, he could do ANYTHING and you guys would still kiss his butt, like the obsession is sooo weird. The counter arguments are "but dems, but liberals, but dems....." the other side does NOT praise any president or leader as much as a Trump supporter and never has. Imagine Idolizing an almost 80 year old fat spray tanned convicted felon 💀 There's definitely lead in some of ya'll water system because y'all are legit hallucinating and acting like Trump is Jesus himself

Given the massive nature of the federal code, not to mention state codes, it's not that hard to find something to charge someone with if the prosecutor has the inclination.  But why did they wait until an election was coming up to charge him?  Why did they get a court date the day before Super Tuesday?  It's all just a coincidence?  You can pretend this isn't a political prosecution intended to influence the election all you want but the evidence begs to differ.

He literally tried to overthrow the American system of government on a whim.  Something commonly referred to as a "coup."  There has been plenty documented in the indictments as well as in the January 6th commission hearings that make this indisputable.

His best defense is that he did so because he was delusional and unable to accept basic facts after all states certified the election results and he lost court case after court case after court case, including several presided over by judges he appointed.  I don't believe this defense at all--he has been whining about things being rigged if he loses since 2015 and their whole reaction to the 2020 election results was planned in advance.  Regardless, he has demonstrated he is absolutely unfit to be president because (a) he either consciously and deliberately tried to overthrow the government; or (b) he is absolutely delusional and mentally unstable.

The fact that people who in their immediately prior lives liked to claim they vote on the basis of "law and order" would make excuses for this is absolutely unreal.  As @Amlaham said, there is definitely something in the MAGA water.  I guess it should be no surprise that Trump voters trust him more than they trust their own family.  Salt of the earth, definitely!

What are you talking about, augie?!  Democrats won over swing voters with "Defund the Police" messaging that came out of the summer 2020 demonstrations?  Absolutely delusional.

Only a Republican would think indicting anyone for trying to overthrow the government is a "weaponization of the legal system."  Republicans seem to be hard-wired to think "well, if I want to do something, it must be legal."  Abortion rights?  Doesn't matter what the majority of the country thinks--they should just be able to do whatever the hell they want to do because they are somehow "right."  Same with just about every other Republican position in the culture wars.  "Because I don't approve of something, no one else can do it."  Fine logic. There’s a word for it—“entitled.”

Oh please, what difference does it make to you really if he were indicted in 2021?  Your tune would change and the prosecution would be "legitimate"?  Sure, Jan, sure.

So why wait until the start of primary season to charge him and then set the court date the day before Super Tuesday?  If it's an open and shut case, why didn't they just go ahead and do it earlier?  Or, alternately, why not just let the majority of voters who don't want him to be president do their thing and deny him office?

My point here is we're dangerously close to having impeachments, rioting, and prosecution of political opponents become the norm.  Surely you're not in favor of that just so you can "get" Trump?

Augie, I know you have already settled it in your mind that this is some grand conspiracy, but why not employ Occam's Razor here?  Takes a while to investigate, get witness testimony, coordinate with lawyers, etc. if you do things right and not as part of some kangaroo court.  How long did it take for the Mueller report?  Do you have anything specific to validate your point that this is all some grand conspiracy or is it just a "hunch" you get from watching Fox News or something worse?  (You may recall Fox News has essentially come out and said that its 2020 election coverage was utter bullflurf.  There's a conspiracy for you if you're so hell bent on finding one.)

Because he broke the friggin law, Augie.  It's that simple.  Not only did he break the friggin law, Augie, he did so in coordination with an election.  Why is he entitled to run again when hundreds of people who he clearly incited are going to jail?

Another time-worn Republican tactic--extortion.  "If we don't get our way, we're going to riot, shoot you, impeach you for no reason, etc."

Stop projecting.  Republicans are the ones who talk openly about "getting" political opponents.  This is about accountability and the rule of law.  The standard that at least half the country is employing for Trump is that he should be treated like anyone else who committed a crime.  He continues to act like a mob boss, thereby confirming his guilt and demonstrating yet again his unsuitability for office.

It's funny how someone who campaigned with the slogan "Lock her up" now says it's unfair to indict someone during an election.
