2015 Houston Mayor's race

Don't forget about Mike "The Hypocrite" Bloomberg [R/Ind], who served 12 consecutive years as NYC Mayor from 2002-2014 or the late Maynard Jackson (D), who served as Atlanta, GA Mayor from 1974-1982; 1990-1994.

In a way, this demonstrates one of the downsides of term limits.

Maynard Jackson was barred by term limits from serving three consecutive terms; when he ran again after sitting out one term he pulled in 80% of the vote.  He chose not to run for a fourth for health reasons.

Likewise, Bloomberg's popularity was a factor in revising New York's term limit scheme.

Mollusk, I know in Denver, CO., the Mayor is allowed to serve 12 consecutive years for 3 4-year terms: Wellington Webb (D) accomplished this back in 1991 & won reelection in 1995 & 1999 before being term-limited in 2003.

Plus, Denver has an official residence for the Mayor & First Family: Cableland, which was given to the city back in 1998 I believe although no Mayor has lived in the residence, they have held official functions there.

The Houston Chronicle reporting today that the lawsuit, filed by former U.S. Rep. Chris Bell (D-TX) to stop State Rep. Sylvester Turner (D-Houston)'s fundraising efforts was rejected by the Ethics Commission.

Mayoral candidate Marty McVey was on Houston Newsmakers yesterday, detailing his plans for the Bayou City & his campaign, etc.,

Interesting to see how McVey can get attention, if any at all from the crowded pack.
