cloud713
Crap.. This seems like bad news? I wonder if a different firm was chosen..?
Sky-guy
I didn't really like the design of that one, don't really know why though.
fernz
Don't think it's going to happen:http://www.odell.com/portfolio/category/on-the-boards-2/It's no longer on their "on the boards" list. They were probably supposed to keep it confidential. LarryDierker
I like it, but it looks like a square box wearing a sash.
Moore713
Not uncommon for things get pulled..when they get leaked before the company is ready...609 main got pulled form a site after it leaked
Triton
Crap.. This seems like bad news? I wonder if a different firm was chosen..? Not that I can confirm this at the moment, but I think we can expect several different renderings in the near future. I know of a Houston-based architecture firm working with Brookfield to redesign One Allen Center and the other renderings of the Allen complex on Odell's website aren't consistent with what was described to me. I guess it's very possible that Brookfield is looking for the best design...?

arche_757
^My guess is: Kirksey or Morris, heavily leaning towards Kirksey.

arche_757
If it is a Houston based firm, then I'll take Kirksey over Morris any day of the week. Morris is a far cry from what it used to be in the 70s and 80s (when it was CSI or some other iteration and the largest firm in the world at the time). If its a local office of a firm based out of town, then Gensler is a good guess, as they seem to have their paws into everything these days. TowerSpotter
Kirkseys work is mostly.......BORING. I would like Pichard Chililton or HKS architects to be the ones behind the project.
arche_757
But those aren't Houston based firms. Pickard+Chilton is out of New Jersey/New York, and HKS is a Dallas based firm.
invisibletrees
Sounds like the architecture firm for the new One Allen Center facade is Michael Gaertner, the same firm behind the new JW Marriott (806 Main). Kirksey was behind the design for Five Allen Center when it was proposed at 50-Floors, that has changed now.

TowerSpotter
I'm almost sure that the second one on the first row happpens to be Five Allen Center. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Edit: Nevermind its the old rendering.

TowerSpotter
No reason at all. There's just been all kinds of renderings floating around.
lockmat
Handsome building. I dig it. Too bad it seems to be a decade away from breaking ground (my guesstimate). Maybe it grows during the next boom?
Avossos
"If you build it, they will come" houston is in need of class A office space. The companies here are just a little conservative. 6 Houston Center is building on faith. I think it will pay off for them

I think it will pay off for them I agree.  That building should have been built (50-stories tall) when it was announced; looks good to me.  It would have been fully leased by now since many of the buildings that have gone up recently didn't exist (they find tenants because they're getting built).  Anyways, you snooze in good times, and you lose. Avossos
It's weird though. Brookfield has just sold off some buildings in houston. What are they doing with all that capital? I had heard they were focusing their efforts on 5 Allen...Even if they built it now, they'd probably still be ok. Downtown is booming and it's just getting better. cloud713
Interesting.. Though that looks strangely like an excerpt from something released a year or so ago? I forget where I remember that from.Edit: just googled an excerpt from that quote and found this from 4th quarter 2013http://www.downtownhouston.org/site_media/uploads/attachments/2014-01-07/Downtown_Real_Estate_Update_2013-4Q.pdf
Triton
Although it is also found there, it is still certainly current. Edit: Didn't realize that quote was already in the public domain.

cloud713
It lost over 25% of it's height but only like 16% of the volume? Interesting.. Any indication on the design? I know we had renderings of that newer angled tower but I thought that was 35 stories.
