  1. is that 'construction starts in March', or "prep for deconstruction of the Texas Tower ends and it's actual deconstruction starts" in March?
  2. the people who live in that area want it to be exclusive- they want the property value high to keep out those who are not like them, and they don't care about paying higher taxes on the property. It's just money to them. ( i have a client who lives in the noontime shadow of AHR on the other side of Bissonnett.... that is his attitude)
  3. did Hilcorp ever give a timetable on their construction project? I'm wondering because the size of the hole in the ground is way too big to be filling in now just to dig it all up in a couple of years (even if it is only 15' deep, and just where did they think they were going to put 30,000 people in a shelter on that block? Throughout the entire Foley's building?)
  4. Urbanizer's picture is pretty much the view from where the AAstros play.
  5. you can see the entire site from the top of the Pavilions Garage. When I go to work tomorrow, I'll park on the 8th and snap a few pics for y'all. ugh.. work.. I'm in Vegas right now... lol
  6. a fitness center is about the only thing you could ever put under the HoB
  7. it doesn't really look like much has happened, but the interior sidewalks are semi- open, and there's lots of plumbing for fountains and stuff. it has been really wet this year, and lost of the areas they dug up turned into mud pits
  8. that block of main is already closed to northbound traffic
  9. are they going to implode it, or deconstruct it like the old Sheraton?
  10. a'ight, y'all stop calling it the Whataburger or Hines will redo the entire tower, delaying it for a few years... lol
  11. there hasn't been much progress due to the rain... they put some pipes in under the old courtyard, that's about it
  12. the hole will be huge. Since the 140 ish feet high building collapsed into a pile of rubble that is about 15' high above ground, there has to be at least 30' of rubble below ground. after all, there was a fallout shelter big enough for 30000 people under there (I think it was an exaggeration, but even cramming 5,000 people into that block probably required a huge area)
  13. from the 8th floor of the Pavilions garage
  14. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=245186818963579&set=vb.100004167871984&type=2&theater this gets funny at the 55 sec mark.... if you can see it starring my friend Eric
  15. what you couldn't see in the video was all the windows at One Main SHAKING with the implosions... I tried zooming up to it, but I decided to get the falling instead.
  16. and Boom Goes The Dynamite, with no screaming brats in the background
  17. ok, here we go!!! y'all get my evening, which started with a punk ska band at work... they're like a Panteon Rococco for white people (PR is my favorite latin ska band)... no pics of that... so... you saw the vantage we got moved from... here's the rest of the morning. this is Annie.. .she was hanging out. point spraying water to minimize dust... it didn't help as you can tell from Infinite Jim's KILLER smoke photo... this dude was on the old Humble Oil building... he was joined by 30 people, a cop went and chased them off... This picture is called Salute... it's one of the last pictures taken of the building as part of the Houston skyline... The mountain of rubble... Look closely, there's two guys in orange safety jackets on top of the mountain! awesome!!!! my friends and I screwed around a little... and if you see this anywhere on the interwebs (it was photographed a LOT), keep in mind I'm the smart-ass who wrote it... LOL and then there was mimosas I have video of the implosion, it's AWESOME, and my friend Eric's video is HILARIOUS! How do I post videos from facebook (his), and flikr (mine?)
  18. the view from inside the old Books A Million... they decided we were too close, so they moved us up (some of the people with us ended up on top of the SkyBar, where they were going to build the outdoor part... I'll find out how their view was on Monday)
  19. We were in the old Books A Million, with the Pavilions people, but Cherry decided we were too close, and moved us up to the 8th floor garage. It was EPIC!! I will post a lot of pictures later, and link to my friend Eric's video
  20. Y'all aren't going to believe the video I'm going to get from my new vantage point....muahahaha!
