Cherry demolition has reserved floors 5 through 8 of the Pavilions Garage, so anybody coming to hang out will not be able to get on me, floors. 4th floor is fair game you're not going to see anything from three
-
paul blart mall cop and the police are sweeping the area for people inside the blasting zone... I'm standing here in the garage on the 7th floor, they didn't ask me to leave. They do have caution tape up next to the cement walls closest to the victim building.
-
They are blasting it at 7:10
-
Demolition crew is setting up on the 8th floor of the garage. I'm about to join some friends on the 7th floor

GreenStreet: Mixed-Use Development At 1201 Fannin St.
Tumbleweed_Tx replied to MontroseNeighborhoodCafe's topic in Downtown
CVS is at Main and Walker, closes at 7 Pavilions is turning itself inside out on Dallas St (all the restaurants except HoB will have outdoor seating). Part of the trouble they will have is that their maintenance corridors are along Dallas St and Polk St (the Pavilions new name is as offensive to me as that four letter word they keep trying to attach to the East End...lol) -
don't know if Paul Blart Mall Cop will be stopping people from viewing at the Pavilions garage... it's the ONLY place that is easily access that has a good view

Downtown Houston 2025 Master Plan
Tumbleweed_Tx replied to MontroseNeighborhoodCafe's topic in Downtown
rail line running to the theater district is a non-issue, as it's close to all the freeway exits. Since the theater district is surrounded by underground parking for all those people getting off the freeways to go see a show, none of the patrons will be using the rail line to get to a show. actually, it's ore of a pain in the ass than anything- it takes up half of Capitol Street, so there's going to be two lanes for car traffic. This leaves nowhere for tour buses to park at Bayou Music Center when there's large multiband festivals there. -
the green neon was light pollution and, it's high maintenance. I think I read something about how the people at Houston House complained about the green neon the night it was turned on, and that it was all damaged during a tropical storm, and not replaced.

we're having a huge party just outside the blast zone. There WILL be cameras set up with a clear view of the explosions (see, now THAT is a performance... cheering, jumping, and explosions...LOL), and brunch afterwards
-
dibs on the 8th floor parking garage at the Pavilions... A coworker and I will be there, drinks and cameras in hand... LOL

here's the rendering posted to Culture Map, so, yeah, they will probably repalce the lower facade with new brick, then paint a brick facade over the higher bricks they had to paint to cover up the damage from the 60's facade's glues and resins...
-
it's already taking shape with the flowing curves of the balconies... Soon, it will be visible from the 59/610 interchange!

huh? There's a city in the background? actually, the model is a good friend and favorite bartender, Veronica Gomez...

looks like they're gutting the interior and starting over again- probably an asbestos abatement. There's a chute on the north side of the building for the waste... all the curtains are gone, the windows open.

as I drove by yesterday, I saw a newish rendering of a new facade for the CBB that looks something like the new facade of the Mickey Leland building
