  1. In case you've been living under rocks, it appears that Doug Delony, Lisa Carter & Ruben Galvan all left CBS 11 KHOU-TV Houston. Not sure if there's a house-cleaning going on over at the Houston TEGNA Station.

Any thoughts of what's going on over there in the Houston TEGNA Station ?

Longtime anchor Art Rascon will be leaving at the end of the year. His son Jacob will move from KPRC to KTRK next year as an anchor & reporter.

ABC13 Houston anchor Art Rascon stepping away, but son, Jacob, will join the station - ABC13 Houston

I knew this was inevitable once Jason left NBC 2 KPRC-TV Houston. All signs were pointing to him replacing his father at Live at Five.

Is Ch. 13 having a house cleaning over there ?

  3. Tomorrow is the last day of Ch. 13 KTRK-TV Houston reporter Marla Carter, who'll be leaving the ABC O&O Station after nearly 6 years according to Mike McGuff of mikemcguff.com.

Interesting to see if Carter will return to the TV biz down the road but looking forward to seeing her next chapter in life.

  4. WOW! I did NOT see this one coming at all. I was hoping Dominique would get to 30 years.

Does anyone know who'll be her successor ?

Mike McGuff of mikemcguff.com has more information on Sachse leaving NBC 2 KPRC-TV Houston:

Looks like her final newscast will be on Friday, October 29th 6:00 PM.

Thank you very much for the memories Dominique! 😊

This particular morning show was actually cancelled and re-launched as "No Wait Weather + Traffic" last year.

The current version of the show is actually watchable from the times I have popped in to see it. It runs from 6-10 AM and has weather and traffic every ten minutes with news and features rotating throughout the program. Sharron Melton is still the anchor.

I still think it's kind of funny that the morning show is done in-house but the 9 PM newscast is produced by KTRK.

I noticed that Lanier had left for FL several months earlier. Guessing he wasn't popular with folks in Houston.

Fun fact: He's a HAIFer too and has contributed some good photos from downtown over the years.

I remember him from Corpus Christi when he was at the CBS station there in the 2000s. He went by "Keaton Fox". Good reporter. I'm sure he will do well at  13.

I had no idea he used to be a HAIF-ista.

  7. Good Morning HAIF family. It looks like Jason Isbell got triggered & called out Fox 26 weekday morning anchor Sally MacDonald over a possible conflict of interest, when Isbell on Twitter put MacDonald on full-blast by mentioning MacDonald's ties to the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion following the artist's cancellation of a Wednesday show at the venue.

Isbell's record label, Southeastern Records, tweeted a statement confirming the cancellations Tuesday evening, stating the venue wouldn't comply with the artist's updated safety precautions asking venues to require proof of vaccination or negative COVID-19 tests for entry.

Soon after, Fox 26 KRIV-TV Houston weekday morning anchor Sally MacDonald offered a rebuttal to Southeastern Records' claims by replying with a graphic from Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion stating the issue that led to the cancellation was timing, rather than an unwillingness on part of the venue to introduce additional safety measures.

Isbell responded by strongly refuting MacDonald & the venue's version of events, stating that the owner of Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion refused to try to implement additional safety standards. Houston Twitter users were quick to note a certain link between MacDonald & the venue--namely that Sally MacDonald is the daughter of Jerry MacDonald, President & CEO of Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion.

Isbell also joined in on pointing out the blatant conflict of interest in reference to MacDonald & her family:

Let me know your thoughts on the situation including folks on Twitter calling out MacDonald for the potential conflict of interest.
