History of cable and satellite tv in Houston
Howard Huge replied to Howard Huge's topic in Houston and the Media
Thanks for the responses guys, great info! So does anyone know who the cable provider for those slider boxes in the pic was? It couldnt have been Warner cable, I dont think they came around til the late 80s. -
Id like to hear some of our older posters tell us all about the history of cable and satellite in Houston. I have many questions like: Who was the first cable provider? First satellite provider? Was there any competition? What programming were those old gigantic satellites in peoples backyards that were like 15 feet across? What channels were available? I remember going to my grandparents house in the early 80s and they had one of these: What company was this?

I lived in Houston House for 7 years and I gotta say, passed by today and this area looks like a whole different animal. Its like night and day, you can feel the new energy thats about to be here between Houston House, Sky House, Alliance, the new Holiday Inn and the light rail, this is gonna be a VIBRANT area soon, and with more to come!!! I cant wait!

Id like to take a minute to thank the Novare Group for titillating us all with the new towers and speed which they are deftly gracing us with. The Novare Group: "We don't f*** around."
