  1. I was thinking the same. Last time I was in Dallas, we were driving through downtown and my host pointed across the street and said, "thats uptown." I remember thinking, "It's literally across the street, pretty lame to call that "uptown."
  2. Wow. You are awesome. So if you discount Ft. Worthless (which I do) we are pretty much second behind New York with the lowest vacancy percentage. Not bad
  3. It's always seemed that way to me too. I was in New York this past new year and there seemed to be lots of buildings going up in Manhattan as though it was the norm because there are already so many there they just get swallowed up in the ocean of skyscrapers and go unnoticed. There was one residential in particular going up near the Empire State that just made me say wow, Houston Could never support somethin like this.
  4. So do you have any idea how say a New York or a Chicago are doing compared to Houston, i.e are they looking at any significant new skyscraper construction?
  5. Thank you! I wonder how that compares with other top 5 U.S. cities
  6. Is there any estimate available of the occupancy percentage of all Class A space in downtown, more simply, how full is our downtown?
  7. So in your opinion do you think we'll be out of this recession by then? And i mean in terms of how weve been hearing so much of "oh X project was put on hold because of the economy" or "The pavilions isnt fully leased out because of the economy" or "No one is lending money because of the credit crunch", financial crises, etc etc...
  8. For this thread, lets say 40+ stories, and lets say in downtown proper.
  9. Just want to hear yalls educated guesses as to when Houston will recover from the recession and build another skyscraper.
  10. With the plethora of surface lots in downtown, Ive often pondered the same thing myself. My assumption has always been that, knowing Houstons history of demolishing historic structures, several of those lots probably used to be old circa 20's or 30's buildings. Im pretty sure there has to be some sort of map or grid of downtown that shows what old buildings used to be up on what lots, maybe even with pictures. If anyone knew where to find out it would probably be a poster/s on this site.
  11. Artesian lakes was awesome...

  12. You're telling me. Tearing down Franzheim should be a crime. I cannot think of why they would do that.
