  1. Tilman Fertitta will have his way and build casinos on the seawall....or else. He'll make em an "offer they cant refuse".
  2. I actually wasnt being sarcastic, the pics show workers and equipment moving around on the site which i hadnt seen before, i didnt even notice the quality of the pix, just what they show. But then, i forget youre a photographer, so youre probably overly critical of your pics anyway.
  3. Theres a Frankels Costume co by minute maid park, but thats spelled different.
  4. I read up on the OKRA group too, did not realize that Houston was FORCING these establishments to build huge parking lots with their new businesses, what a backwards, anti-urban, anti-walkability law. Well no WONDER! Ugh, so you say they got city council to reverse these laws in urban areas like midtown?
  5. Lol, that's hilarious!http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Six_Degrees_of_Kevin_Bacon
  6. Hmmmm. I was trying to make a joke, did you catch the whole Kevin Bacon/degrees of seperation thing? Maybe you think my attempt at humor sucks?
  7. Btw Mister X, I think the retail on washington that houses the Counter Burger has exactly the "up to the sidewalk storefront and mucho parking hidden in the back. Its a good model.
  8. It was a Pizza Inn.I ate there many times with my family growing up, and I remember the table with all the graffiti on it and the multi-colored windows. There was also a buffet in this pizza inn, your typical pizza place buffet with salads, pasta and of course pizza. There was also a Ms Pac Man/Galaga arcade game in the front entrance foyer. Good times!
  9. Now THIS is what I'm talking about! This is awesome, mid-rise apartments, built up to the sidewalk east coast style, with ground level retail included to keep the flow going from the retail that starts at the Post, making almost the entire stretch of gray st walkable from bagby to taft, NICE!
  10. Nice try but I didnt ask you to predict the future, I'm asking, in YOUR opinion, do YOU think a little retail facing the park would cause camdens entire superblock project to become a financial failure? Yes or no?
  11. Were your parents insects? Just kidding. Yes, how glorious it would be to have Downtown Houston THAT vibrant and alive again, with that many neon lights, signs, flash, billboards, pizazz and enough ground level retail to support all those things again. But judging by the posts in this thread, there are too many people here who would hate downtown as jazzy as it once was in it's former glory. They'd rather have a quiet, boring, deserted, dead as a doornail at night, tumbleweeds blowing through, blacked out, lifeless, neon sign-less, ghost town city center so they can feel superior to the folks that want those things by saying condescending things like "one of your parents must be an insect" and comparing your existence to a bird or bug.
  12. Whatever the number, and Im sure its not 10,000, my point was he included retail, period. And you didnt answer my question about camden superblock.
  13. By saying "less than 1/3rd" you make it sound very small but its still gonna be 75,000 sq/ft., and at least he's including SOME. I would not have expected the entire 2 huge city blocks to have wraparound retail like west ave.And thats all I'm asking, I would be happy with even 1/3rd retail at camden. Like another poster suggested, what if they just included retail on the side facing the park to add some continuity to the retail in the park? Do you believe if they added just retail facing the park it destroy the feasability of the entire project and make the Camden superblock/park a financial failure?
  14. Well, I dont know if its profitable for him or not, but judging by the fact that he keeps putting it in all his new developments, I'd lean toward thinking hes not losing money on it.
  15. So the only type of gfr that will succeed in houston is specialty grocery stores in downtown on the bottom of 37 story apartment buildings with no competition around them, gotcha. Relax, no one is having heart attacks, its just the internet buddy. And whats your obsession with my obsession of gfr? Why are you following me from thread to thread trolling my posts trying to sound like a smart ass and insulting me?
  16. You gotta be kidding me. When are they gonna learn? Do they not see whats going on right across the street? I give up. Sorry for the complaining and negativity but, damn.
  17. Thank you.And to all the people arguing "why would Campo put ground floor retail there, it would be competing with the retail at the Post, a few blocks away", not sure if you're serious. By that logic, whoever decided to build out Hanovers Ashton in Rice village with retail on bottom must be mentally retarded, because that retail will be competing with about a thousand other retailers in the surrounding area.
