  1. Now, now, young person. Be grateful for what Grand Master S. Jobs has provided us with over the years.
  2. Someone smarter than I (a large crowd, no doubt) can probably delve into the files at https://www.houstontx.gov/ecodev/tirz/3.html and get a rough estimate of how much corporate welfare was doled out to the billionaire hogs at the trough.
  3. Hopefully you can read this attachment, from the Longview paper on Jan. 18, 1966

  6. Those facilities should have been built in or near downtown before they went with the luxury high-rises. Economically disadvantaged folks would likely do better getting on their feet when they are close to the organizations that support them, with decent transportation options.
  7. Are you really surprised that this is a problem? Almost every major downtown area in the U.S. suffers from the same issue, no matter how much "revitalization" has happened. Where are these folks supposed to go? There's no affordable housing and extremely limited mental health treatment opportunities.
  8. "Food" doesn't necessarily have to include liquor. You can have a grocery store that doesn't sell booze.
  9. How about we DON'T rebuild it and just have businesses located in widespread places? "Downtown" is such an outdated idea and causes so many issues. I would like to have a big park with a nice water feature for all the birds and wildlife where City Hall is 😁
  10. I would be super pumped if that happened! 😂
  11. Why would anyone in the suburbs protest a building in Montrose? Does it not have GFR? 🤣
  12. And not everyone agrees with you, either. Parking in the back = no parking, to me. You should have lived in the middle ages 😁
  13. $1089 for 492 square feet. Yowza, I'm glad you think that's affordable.
  14. Yes, when it benefits those who don't need the help. Spend the money on low-income housing so less-wealthy people can enjoy the benefits. How many of these subsidized projects are even remotely affordable to the bulk of Houstonians? SkyHouse Houston Block 334 SkyHouse Main The Star Market Square Tower Aris Market Square
  15. Drop a ton of cash (tax incentives) on another neighborhood and it would likely be alive, too.
  16. Nooooo, sis, just laughing out loud at you.
  17. Oooooooooo, burnnnnnnnn..... Alrighty, ace, we'll see how it turns out.
  18. You're not explaining anything to anyone. You're passionately espousing your ideas. An "awesome core" would entail building affordable housing for thousands of workers who are priced out of the area right now. There aren't many people besides 1%ers who can afford to live downtown as is, so I have no interest in catering to that crowd. The CBD concept is a dinosaur that needs to fade away.
  19. Someone is a little salty about their little choo-choo going somewhere else
