  1. Wait. It closed? The one on Westheimer? NOOOOOOOOO!!! I normally go once a week, but due to business travel I haven't been in a couple weeks. That sucks. Food as good and reasonably priced. Always clean, with friendly staff.
  2. You have to remember, these homeless folks are just trying to enjoy living inside the loop, where all the good stuff is. Can't begrudge them that, no sir.
  3. Nope. Here's what he said: On free checked bags Kelly said, "Now, we have got this incredible distinction, which is a gift from our competitors to be different by not nickel and diming customers. Customers hate bag fees and Southwest Airlines is a beloved brand... We carry more customers in the United States than any other carrier by far and Bags Fly Free as a major reason for that." Kelly revealed that Southwest's research shows that there aren’t many monetization opportunities available for stuff that the airline offers for free and that if it would start charging for baggage, it will lose more revenue than it will gain because that will result in losing customers. 4. Where do you get the idea that Southwest will change their policy?
  5. As expected, moaning and lamenting from the losing "side". "Ohhhhhh woeeeee issssss weeeeeeee. People are too stupid to see that I am right! They need to be told when to go do stuff because they're just soooooooooo lazy." Blah blah blah, yada yada yada. There are regular elections. Every year you have something to vote on. Keep trying and you'll win some, and you'll lose some.

  7. Driver's license, and also carry the Green Card just for comfort.
  8. Please, please, please spend some of those millions on fixing the roads around the stadium. And elsewhere on campus. A Tier 1 school with Tier 37 roads.
  9. The only way this should even be remotely considered is if the Rodeo and the Texans pony up every penny and expect nothing in return. Yeah, that's gonna happen with those money-grubbers...
  10. I'm all in favor of more fancy housing for rich folk. Has to be better use of the land than general retail, and with the light traffic patterns in that area it will be extremely walkable.
  11. Drove the southbound section today from 290 to Cinco Ranch Blvd., and it was quite boring and pleasant, apart from the usual coterie of jackasses who think they're in NASCAR. I would love it if they could send out tickets based on average speed between toll tag checkpoints, but that would obviously be an infringement upon the right to speed.
  12. Great video, many thanks! Might have to take a ride on that one some day.
  13. There shouldn't be much traffic any more. Everyone's riding the train!
  14. Someone on this thread appears to be an angry, aggressive driver. Slow down and enjoy life.
  15. But, but, but...revitalization! Oh, wait a minute, the other billionaire playhouses within a mile or two of this new boondoggle haven't done kylejacksquat to pump up that EaDo economy, have they? Really? How many stadiums does it take to REALLY get that area thriving? Enjoy your welfare trough, Anschutz.
  16. Thanks for your insight, LT, scintillating as always. WAZ - The Sharpstown site, particularly the old Gillman plot across Bellaire, would be a very good location for the reasons you mention. But evidently only downtown deserves any development.
  17. I can't think of one compelling reason for building this thing downtown, an area that doesn't deserve any more investment, especially tax dollars. Who cares about downtown? It's horrifying to think of hundreds of thousands of people still stupidly heading to a central location each day to try and do their jobs. If private money can get this thing done in the Galleria area, HOORAY!
  18. This is a much better idea than cramming another stadium downtown where it's hard to get to. Even better if it can be done without tax dollars, and it puts the screws to the people profiting off the downtown land deal.
  19. It would be kinda tough to eat in that location, remembering what was in there previously.
  20. Instead of pushing for another downtown tract for the proposed Dynamo stadium, I wish the city would encourage AEG to take a look at Sharpstown Mall and its surrounds. It makes sense to locate a soccer stadium there if only due to demographics, but the area offers a lot more than just potential fans. Access is fairly easy and traffic can flow pretty well through the area, and the attendant smaller businesses that accompany a multi-use stadium would benefit the neighborhood. I understand that most of you probably hate soccer (commie ball, anyone), and may be as sick as I am of local governments spending money to make team owners even wealthier, but if the stadium is going to get built anyway, I would like to see Sharpstown considered. Flame away
