Hi and welcome to the forum. I work for a company that uses some good residential construction contractors. Typically they run about $35 per square foot for everything minus cladding the columns. That's usually a few hundred per column. Paying $63 per square foot is outrageous for a project like that. If you want, I can message you some contacts that would be worth talking to although I don't know if they do work that far south. Either way, good luck!

Architecture competition for kids?
brijonmang replied to Sky-guy's topic in Architects, Developers, Builders, and Designs
I don't know if anything specifically but you may want to check with some of the architecture firms in town. Sometimes they will hold design competitions for projects they want to get free ideas on...I know they are mostly geared to college students but it might be worth checking into. -

Someone forgot to turn on their sarcasm meter...That said, MMP is still a destination and having three major league stadiums all within walking distance of each other is still a good thing if you ask me. It makes sense for development to happen between these venues. The parks downtown only reinforce that point. It has taken longer than many ever thought, but with the downtown initiative people are going to be moving into these areas.- 911 replies

Not sure you can consider it U/C yet since they haven't started any kind of foundation work but it is imminent. PS - I enjoy all of your photo threads over on SSP. I like seeing all the changes going on in Austin.

If you can find a way to create a mountain range or huge body of water to surround Houston then we will be able to combat sprawl. Until then, it's going to keep happening.
