  1. It's about time thr Mayor try to do something like this. I thought he should have begun negotiations when he became Mayor in the first place. It's not just an environment-thing from his position, but it's now wn economic one. With all this road and highway expansion projects going on in Houston, the clock is ticking before our federal funding is in jeopardy to pay for it.
  2. R U saying that U.S. citizens in East End don't play soccer? I would probably say though that more people play soccer for recreation in the Houston-area (including East End), than golf.
  3. I think the concert is a good idea for a much-needed cause, but I wonder how many world leaders will be involved with this. Especially with our President and congressmembers, will they listen?
  4. How many blocks will be between the two when both projectsare all fnished? Or will they almost be connected?
  5. If I'm not mistaken, Memorial City and Astroworld will both have mega-redevelopment projects of their own, too. That and the Downtown Park. Houston's gonna look real nice in 3 years when all five are complete.
  6. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17168544/?GT1=9033 Yo, check it. Former Vice President and Internet-Inventor Al Gore has announced a major global concert to help spread attention to the major climate criss. There will be around 100 artists and bands involved, and for the first time ever, this will take place on all seven continents. According to this article, here's a few of the performers.. Pharrell, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Foo Fighters, Snoop Dogg, Lenny Kravitz, Bon Jovi, Paolo Nutini, Sheryl Crow, AFI, Melissa Etheridge, John Mayer, Damien Rice, Corrine Bailey Rae, Duran Duran, Snow Patrol, John Legend, Black Eyed Peas, Akon, Enrique Iglesias, Fall Out Boy, Mana, Keane, Kelly Clarkson, Korn, Faith Hill and Tim McGraw, Ray LaMontagne, Robin Thicke, and Kenna. This will kinda have the same vibe that Live8 had a couple years ago, and will be on July 7, 2007. I don't think the cities have been announced yet, but it sounds like a good and much-needed event.
  7. Anna gave him a raise, and he gave her one in return...
  8. I've seen it too. A lot of front-pagers these days promoting Houston Lifestyle and Nightlife. (Such as "A Night At The Museum")Sometimes when U click on it, it would take U to an event photo gallery of different people at that event. No harm. Perhaps the idea is to promote Houston's trendy places while keeping up web-traffic.
  9. I think it's better that people tell the truth about how they remember a person. If U thought about a person a certain way, then they die suddenly, it's hard to imagine that you'd feel different about that person's life. So why say otherwise? Besides, it makes a person's feelings more sincere when they say how they truly felt about a person, postive or negative. Just don't remember someone for something they're not, that's all. If she started her career as a topless dancer, remember her for that. That doesn't make her trashyto me; a few of my friends became dancers, too. She married for money. That may make a few consider that actions as trashy though. Does that make the person remembering her trashy for thinking that way?
  10. I don't really understand that concept. A lot of people (including myself at times) made fun of her situation at times, then she dies, and people are supposed to forget how strange and ironic her situation has become for a certain period of time when this story has surpassed Iraq as the news story on the front pages? What are people expected to say? "Well, I thought she wasn't a role model until she died, and for the next few week, let's be politically correct and remember all her contributions to society even though I can't think of anything on the top of my head right now?" That doesn't make any sense, yo. Now, I'ma be real. I thought of Anna Nicole before and after she died as a modern-day Marylin Monroe. But I considered both to be regular people that everyone decided to get fasinated on for some reason of another. They knew the right people, slept with the right people, sometimes got married to the right people, died mysteriously at a surprising time in their lives, and people remember them for more than who they were because of the media frenzy they created for themselves. Anna Nicole was a topless dancer who became even more famous after marrying one of her customers, who happened to be a senior-citizen billionaire. I thought she was smart. She knew she would be rich and famous someday, and knew how to cash in. Usually when I think trashy, I don't think of someone who's worth over $10 Million bucks, let alone $400Million. But some of these celebs are smart. They know a pay-check when they see one, even if it's by marriage and death. BTW, I just read the article. It seems like the Chronicle weren't the ony media covering Rick's salute.
  11. McNair and the Texans are too image-happy. Even if Randy Moss were a free-agent, there's no way McNair would want him on our team. Carr has a better image than Moss, and McNair likes that. Besides, like I said before, trading Carr won't get the Texans anywhere. We need a team of depth. Keep Carr, and have him and Rosenfel fight for the starting spot while you improve on DE, OL, RB, and pass coverage via fre-agency. Then pick the best athletes available in the draft. That's all they have to do. We need a Chicago Bears-type team. They made it to the Super Bowl because they're strong all over the field. I think Carr is a WAY better QB than Grossman. I don't think the Texans are that far from producing a high-depth team, but for that, stop looking to trade the starting QB, and start looking at all the god free-agents availabe that you don't have to trade for. And there's a lot of good free-agents this year.
  12. I gues it makes sense. That titty bar is where Anna Nicole started her "career". If it wasn't for her dancing there, she would have never met her money...um..man...
  13. ...or how about "The Boss in the Iron Mask" or "Titanic 2: The Corporate Sinking"?
  14. Dicaprio in an Enron movie, eh? It should be called "Catch Me If You Can 2"...
  15. Do u think Anna Nicole will be a subject in the '08 Presidential race?
  16. Which one's more honorable; winning the Presidency in 2008, or being named Anna Nicole's baby daddy? And if Anna Nicole was broke when she died, do you think all these dudes would be claiming "I'm the father"?
  17. I think he does. Ching too. That's why it's so cool that they play for Dynamo, H-Town. Fox Sports ranked us as #30 in the world, which is pretty wild.
  18. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/4548794.html Brian Ching just signed a contract extention with Dynamo! According to this, they're working on an extention contract for DeRo as well.
  19. I'm black, but I don't give a damn about Obama being the first black president. I really don't. If he doesn't have a good campaign, and doesn't show promise that he can help the country after all the BS that has happened since 2003, then I don't see any reason to vote for him. Same goes to Guliani. Yea, he was mayor of NYC during 9-11, and did a good job with what he had to work with. But I don't owe him a vote. Same goes to Hilary for having a former president as your husband, and having the best chance ever for being the first female president. What'cha want, a cookie? I DO think that so far, Obama's been the strongest candidate thus far, but anything can change between now and November '08. I'll be turned off between now and then with anyone who tries to use their past or their race and sex as a reason why we should vote for them. I can see though that so far, Obama's been the candidate that has tried hardest to stay away from his "I wanna be the 1st" speech, and stuck to the issues. That's how this election should stay, and I think Clinton, Guliani, and all the others know their society status will be thrown out the window once the Conventions are over.
  20. Why would they? If the amount of people using the golf course is low as an 18-hole course, why would more people use it when it became a 9-hole? When I play golf, my friends and I always go to a 18-hole course minimum.
  21. Damn, I feel sorry for Dallas! Right after they announce Wade Phillips as their new coach, look who becomes available less than a week later... http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/headli...ts/4548378.html
  22. Why don't they go on Maury? He seems to produce fast results, huh? He's a pro at the "you are NOT the father" phrase. Also, is her daughter set to inherit everything?
