  1. The stimulus is great news. This is a tremendous opportunity for Broadmoor residents to voice their concerns.
  2. The view from East End will probably be the strongest. Yippee!
  3. I appreciate your comments and the general feel of the neighborhood. I purchased on Munger last month. I'll be moving in very soon. Reasons for purchasing is it's close proximity to work (Midtown), DT, U of H, easy access to 45 and it's potential. As I posted before, I had mixed feelings, but hopefully that will change for the better as I get to know the neighborhood more and more. I'm looking forward for "National Night Out" and meeting the locals.
  4. Isn't "bad luck" to open on the 13th, much less in October? It would be neat to have it open on 11.1.09
  5. Very interesting. Why is named Hobby? Shouldn't the county have named it Hughes after his death?
  6. Brilliant actor. "Ghost" is one my favorite movies. "It's amazing Molly.....the Love inside...you take it with you."
  7. It might be 'play' police tape. The Google-mobile tooks pics of the area around Halloween. I can clearly see my Halloween decorations when I look up my address. Wow, I hope people dont' think the house is haunted..
  8. I've wondered that myself. I know the ECA serves many of the subdivisions along it's "boundaries". My parents home on Clay St. is called East View, it's a small section between Jackson MS and the Collier St. Here's a question, how can a subdivision become part of ECA? Does a petition need to be created? I know there's amembership fee, but does that make you , or the neighborhood part of the ECA?
  9. Nice to know it's being "saved"...but why can't they just move the facade back several yards? OK..venting over.
  10. Good question. I've grown to love Houston and what it has to offer. It's diversity, its affordability, its people, and the things in between. Does it have its flaws? Yes. Been living here most of my life....I'm used to it. I was at a forkroad after I graduated college. I had the door wide open. I was unemployed at the time and applied for jobs in Portland, Seattle, Austin, San Antonio, San Francisco. I thought about packing up and moving to Portland, in hopes of looking for a job once I get there. It was a difficult decision. Most of my family lives here. I was offered a job that I wanted here. I recently purchased a new home, so I may be here for awhile before I decide what to do. In the meantime, I'll enjoy, see, and experience all the changes happening around town.
  11. I went to the concert and it was amazing! Nice light show and the setup was very entertaining. I had great seats, but it could've been better...(there were two 'Frankensteins' in front of me... )
  12. Update: Well, after house hunting for almost 6 months. I'm now a Broadmoor resident. I closed on a house on Munger. I'm excited that I have a place of my own! Being a first-time homebuyer, I was nervous at closing. But, everything came together for me. In an unfortunate circumstance the owners had to sell... I feel really bad for them. They agreed to pay for the foundation and replace the roof. I'm familiar with the neighborhood. I love the old homes. A good friend of mine lives on Godwin and has most of his life. I too had mixed feelings about the neighborhood, but I see the potential and aware its a transitioning area. I'm optimistic it will pick up. The more homeowners move in, the better. The house needs work, inside and out, but I'm glad I have my family and friends to help out. My girlfriend suggested having a "Painting Party" to kick off my rehab project. We went for a walk around 10pm...quiet street. I'm looking forward to meeting my new neighbors.
  13. anyone know what's going to take the place of the former Taco Cabana?
  14. why? can you please elaborate, Niche. Just curious.
  15. Good to know. I'm sure we HAIFers appreciate your input.
  16. This is the kind of improvement that is needed for this section of downtown. I hope the ball keeps rolling on these and other projects. Once the LRT is complete, more development will follow.
