  1. It's Heart Disease Awareness month, hence the red lighting.
  2. Because it was at one point the east end of town.
  3. It was just a matter of time before developers, retailers, artists, and homebuyers took notice. I decided to stay/buy in the East End for this very reason....it's potential. I paid a hefty "price" for buying here (not going into details). IMO, development will continue to spread further east. Leeland is a great street, but I think Harrisburg has a greater chance for commercial/mixed-use. Polk has great potential. Canal/Navigation are wide streets, a magnet for retail/bars/restaurants. I often wondered why the huge empty land between the townhomes and Dodson Elementary isn't developed. If I only had the money.
  4. Hungover from my Super Bowl party

    METRORail Green Line

The East End line is the Green Line now. Why is this tread title Brown Line?
  6. Glad the weather cooperated. From the looks of it, a good turnout. I'm excited!
  7. Awesome design. What's there now? Empty lot?
  8. Trying to find some history here. Maybe HAIF can help? My dad was telling me about back in the 60's he was in the Texas Medical Center, and how it was his wedding anniversary that day. He ran out of time so he had to stop by the nearest florist he could find. He was near the Medical Towers and drove randomly to find some flowers for his wife. He went down the street and found a store called Jones Floral located at 6618 South Main Street. It was in a long retail strip center. Decades later, I'm trying to find information on this florist. Does anyone have any memories, or stories of Jones Floral? What about pictures of the store front or shopping center? Thanks in advance.
  9. This would be a good location for a Target. Perfect for the Eado, Eastwood, Houston Country Club, and Idylwood residents.
  10. I agree; the traffic is awful. 1) Someone has finally taken notice the lack of retail in the area. 2) Never would have thought it would be Walmart.
  11. So, our soccer team is in the Eastern Conference and our basketball team in the Western Conference...
  12. "....old, small, commercial buildings". East of downtown? We'll see.
  13. So, is there a baseball field there now? Couldn't find anything online or I could drive and see for myself.
  14. According to GEEMD's website, the underpass should be repainted by the end of the year. We'll see. The new design is definitely more attractive than what is there now.
  15. Skybar was the place to be. Great addition to the DT nightlife. Wonder what kind of "new fans" he wants to draw? ("Washington Ave types"?)
  16. Hehe...... What other properties does he own?
  17. "The Fish" on Gray. They're open til 11pm on weekdays.
  18. I'll have to try Piola some time. So far, Luigi's near HCC is my favorite.
  19. Not to mention "Piola"...anyone been there yet?
  20. I think it's awesome she chose Houston. She could have chose any "suburb" of Houston. The nieghorhood isn't that bad. It was, however, the only part of Southwest Houston I looked at when searching for a house. Can't wait to see the when the house is complete. But, there was a "backwards" house in Eastwood.
