  1. I didn't make it to the home tour this year; attended the East End Art Fest. A friend of mine volunteered and said it was great. My collegue's home on Walker is on the tour. It's great homeowners interact with visitors. Curious as to who decides which home gets on the tour.
  2. Nice job! Glad to know you're OK. I got a dog two months ago after hearing about breakins in the area. Good work by HPD in catching this "thug", BTW.
  3. I live in Broadmoor. Bought last year and enjoying it so far. My street is very quiet. Neighbors walk their dogs in the evening. Constable Trevino lives here, so HPD response time is short. I see home improvements going on frequently around the neighborhood. No flood problem on my street. The EEMD Improvement Plan, already underway, will make it a more desirable place to live. I have no problem getting on or off 45 whichever direction I'm traveling from. A hidden gem IMHO. *Spell check
  4. Natachee's is open. Had lunch there today. Great place. Lacy adds a nice touch.
  5. The "jail" rumor is just that, a rumor. I think "Eado" is already heading in a positive direction. It'll be interesting to see what will happen to the area when the 10' Census report comes out.
  6. Going on 4 months living in Broadmoor and I feel safe. It's a neighborhood in transition, so it is what it is. The park nearby has really cleaned up. It looks much better than it did years ago, thanks in part to the COH, and now with more lighting I think it helps to keep it that way. On occasion I drive around and see homes slowly being renovated. Not sure how often break-ins happen, but at least the response time is excellent. I check the HPD crime tracker and don't see a need for me to get an alarm. I'm getting a dog soon, but only to keep the neighborhood cats away...(I'm not a cat person).
  7. I'm losing hope that the soccer stadium will not get built at all. But, a jail facility definitely is not feasible and could gain strong opposition from 'Eado' and Eastwood residents.
  8. Sorry to hear what happened. Wow, the response time was excellent. Guess it helps to have Mr. Trevino as our neighbor. Thanks for the heads up.
  9. Nice to be back from a well-deserved vacation. My brother and I were actually talking about Austin and Jackson MS last week. One question came up...Will they turn around in 10-15 yrs? (Lantrip, J.P Henderson, and Eastwood Academy received "Exemplary" status in 2008, if this means anything in terms of the quality of the education.) Are they next? Thoughts? Comments?
  10. That also explains the really bad acting.
  11. I've noticed too. They know we're pushing for a quiet zone so they lay it down more frequently .l. Maybe I'll bring it up at the next ECA meeting.
  12. This is how the conversation will go: Person#1: I live on Live Oak. Person#2: Where is that? Person #1: "Eado" Person #2: Oh, you mean the East End. Person#1:
  13. Send a PM with your name & email address. I don't mind taking the lead. Hope Mr. Rodriguez remembers me.
  14. I thought about that, but wanted to get information and check if there's a process and didn't want to step on anyone's toes.
  15. Well, I have a different attitude about it. Maybe I'm being naive. It doesn't hurt to try. As they say "There's strength in numbers". Well, my neighbors were out, cutting their lawns, as was I. Neighborhood kids playing outside, neighbor across the street walking the dog, next door neighbor's son-in-law waxing his 63' Lincoln Continental...nice! My brother came over and took 'after' pics of my house...still a work in progress. IMO, I rather have someone mow their lawn then not have it cut at all.
  16. Attention Eastwood/Broadmoor Residents: I noticed the sign at the corner of Dumble and Wesley is not in the greatest shape. As a Broadmoor resident it would be nice to have it restored or maybe purchase a new sign. Who do I contact to discuss the matter? ECA? COH? Landowner?
  17. My co-worker heard there was a bomb threat.
  18. Congrats Montrose! Saw the piece on CH11 last night.
