  1. GO COOGS!!! I am not a graduate of UH but I love my hometown heroes. On to the Liberty Bowl. Standing Room Only Crowd. Yeah, red and white!!! HOUSTON : 2006 MLS CHAMPIONS DYNAMO HOUSTON : 2006 C-USA CHAMPIONS COUGARS
  2. Great article. It makes Q people more normalized.
  3. Houston is like 7th or sumpin sumpin That isn't including our adjacent met populations of over 100,00 which reflect Lake Charles, LA, Beaumont-Orange-Port Arthur and Bryan-College Station which vaults us way over 6 mil. BUt who cares? We are the most diverse city in Texas and the BEST. My Opinion ONLY!!!!
  4. Thanks. I posted only because it was available thru internet. Actually, as I stated, I am an upper mid income person who doesn't do those Galleria shopping trips where spending exceeds thousands of dollars. I apreciate ya Houston19514. I think the Dal people are coming down hard on me. Oh, well, I'll go have some great seafood. Fresh from the Houston area docks. Yes, this post you WERE defending me. Thanks. It's all good. Texas is wonderful. Dallas, Hou Aus wherever......... Got back from the restaurants on the Bay. Great big Gulf Shrimp over a bed of grilled fish (forgot what kind but very tasty). Have a great weekend. By the way, that goes for our posters from Big D. Too bad I'm tired and old or I'd go over to South Beach for some club action.
  5. C2H: can we NOT just get along???? Victory is wonderful. But wouldn't a local Dallas forum be more beneficial???????? Just a question. Don't get your panties in a wad. Plus, newbies don't get a "cut it out" attitude. Woo Hoo... try it C2H
  6. This was my last reply before the attacks. Am I trying to get this thread "shut down" or is 713 to 214 starting the crap? You be the judge.
  7. Care I shop at Kohl's and Macy's. Pretentious????? And didn't 713 to 214 provoke. I don't care. We are who we are. If you can't stand my posts, put your ignore button on. Jeez.
  8. If we all knew what the population growth was going to be fifty years from now, we'd be friggin' geniuses. All I can say is that Texas (with its HUGE Mex. population is going to grow and grow and grow). And I'm not saying that in a bad way. Family is huge in the Mexican tradition. Houston also is a huge magnet for international people from Malaysia, Viet Nam, Korea, yada yada.... but growth is good. I think.
  9. You are right... I was misinformed. The Galleria in Houston is the FOURTH largest shopping center in the USA. I did one thing: I searched the internet and obtained what was written, and did the copy and paste. I did NOT post erroneous information other than what was out there. Personally, I give a flip about the Galleria in Hou or Dal because I shop at Kohl's, Macy's and Academy. I am only upper mid income level, but happy. Galleria I suppose I also misinformed you that Houston has over 85 foreign consulates, the most foreign banks, the tallest buildings, over 2 million in population and a f**king port that is one of the largest in the world. In fact, I'll be over at one of the restaurants tonight along the waterway and will see a few mighty ships slip past my window to the Port of Houston. Question: What are you guys going to do about your horse slaughtering plants? Texas Monthly just came out and I was appalled. I mean, we love our horses in Houston. You guys kill them and send the meat to wherever.... don't even start. I have been mending fences with Dallasites and do not hate or dislike Dallas; it is that smarmy attitude that pisses me off. Dallasboi and I have been getting along. Don't screw it up 713 to 214. I understand people in Dallas love their town. I love mine. And, besides, I thought this was a sub forum of the HOUSTON Area Information Forum. Am I wrong here? It is December and almost Christmas.
  10. Wait a minute. Is this the current Chronicle bldg????? Whoa. I arrived in 1972, but don't remember how it looked back then. Of course, newspapers were not what I was looking at in Houston. Why buy it when you can get it free? Because nothing goes better with a cup of coffee than the morning newspaper. Jeez, can you all remember when the Chronicle had the morning edition and the evening or was it afternoon edition? My, how times have changed.
  11. Have you all noticed that newspapers are a fledgling business. Since the internet, subscriptions have dropped for all major newspapers. About the only thing they put in there are sales papers and more sales papers. But .... I couldn't imagine not having my Chronicle in the mornings. And I get it everyday, rain or shine. Does the Hearst people still own the Chron? I like USA Today online because the stories are short and current and the stock market right there.
  12. I think you might be on the wrong forum. We talk about architecture, highrises and new construction a whole lot on here.
  13. Not a problem ... I totally understand. It is easy to hit that keyboard and say the wrong things to people and then regret. I enjoy yours posts tier. You know, I really like Dallasboi even though we have had our rounds; he defends his territory and has a lot of character. I can respect that.
  14. I agree with all of you. And the results, please!!!! I miss the Houston Post. I really do.
  15. Cool. Thanks. I knew I couldn't find 'em all. Anyhow, HotHouston! Georgia has never been on my mind!
  16. Oh, my, ricco, that would take some work. But I'm with you, it would be cool.
  17. Gary, you are so right. Atlanta has 39 new highrises since 2000. Hotlanta. I do understand the markets there have cooled off, so I would imagine until they lease up some of that vacant space that there won't be quite so many. Of course, here in Houston, can you say $70 per barrel for oil????
  18. You are right. Downtown, however, has sprouted quite a few new buildings, ballparks, courthouses, etc. since the turn of the century. I checked quickly with Austin's building spree and they come in at around 13 (but three were in the 7, 8 9 story range which are not too tall). Dallas came in with about 22 buildings (nice ones) and American Airlines Center. Personally, I could give a flip about Atlanta.
  19. I only listed the completed ones. That one is still under construction as well as lots of others.
  20. CONSTRUCTION IN HOUSTON (CITY ONLY) SINCE 2000 ... for the whiners who say "why is Atlanta and Dallas and anyplace USA building and we're not?" Yes, we are; Houston is so large no one even knows how much construction is going on. Here ya go and I'll bet I missed a few: Name of Highrise Year Built # Floors 1 1500 Louisiana 2002 40 2 Reliant Energy Plaza 2003 36 3 717 Texas (Calpine) 2003 34 4 Mercer West 2003 30 5 Harris County Civil Courts Bldg. 2005 18 6 5 Houston Center 2002 27 7 Royalton at River Oaks 2003 33 8 1200 Post Oak 2003 33 9 Dominion Post Oak 2004 31 10 The Mark 2001 30 11 Montebello 2004 30 12 Hilton Americas Hotel Downtown 2003 24 13 BMC Software Bldg. 4 2001 23 14 TCH Clinical Care 2002 16 15 One Briar Lake Plaza 2000 20 16 Villa d
  21. Here comes Ed Brandon's "COLD" front. Everyone is scurrying around thinking we will get freezing weather. Which we won't. Anyhow, it will feel a lot like winter with the mid 30s to the low 50s. This is when living on the Gulf Coast is great. No freezing rain for us.
