  1. Van Gundy had better start winning some games for that to work Hurry up Pavilions. We need you! Virgins too.
  2. I found this link from Dallas Morning News IAH Growth
  3. Thanks NMain for that drawing. If it works out that beautifully, I will totally elated about the project. Since it will be the premier park for downtown, it has to be the best.
  4. I would like for some of the dirt they are excavating be placed to make the area have some small hills along with a lake, fountain etc. A little elevation etc. would make a far more lovely park. I think.
  5. I really enjoyed the photo from Overlook Park. At least, that's what I think it was called in 1972. I have a picture from that park off Allen Parkway taken in 1972. Snow was on the ground and the One Shell Plaza building was the tallest. Only 50 floors. Sounds like Dallas 2006 just kiddin'
  6. Main Street would be the place for a strip bar. Bayou Place is more on the "artsy" side of town.
  7. How about tear down the Albert Thomas and replace with a world class symphony hall. In the neighborhood of half a bil.
  8. Some people: the glass half empty. Others: the glass half full. Pavilions - no problem. Gonna happen.
  9. And restaurants with views: the 43rd (Wedge Int'l Tower) and Plaza Club (50th Floor One Shell - membership I think). Of course the Hyatt's Spindletop but hemmed in by skyscrapers.
  10. Yes. They do. Look at the executives of Houston's big companies. These folks make serious money. I work for attorneys who can buy this place. It is mind boggling at how much some of these, and some of these are old money, can afford.
  11. How about a beautiful fountain ... Mecom comes to mind or that cool fountain in Chicago. With benches etc.
  12. Our fair city is 2nd only to NYC in Fortune 500 companies 2006 Listings
  13. I'm assuming that because there is a huge residential base in Uptown as opposed to Downtown, that might be the reason that Uptown has "it goin' on" and is more organized that Downtown? Just a thought in this regard. The Uptown facts blow me away.
  14. It is Dynamo. There is no s at the end. I am a WASP. I probably will never go to a Dynamo game. However, if the name 1836 offends people, especially the folks who like soccer (argh) .... Dynamo isn't horrible. It is a funky stage name if you will. Aeros, Oilers, Texans, Rockets, and in New York Nets and Jets .... couldn't be worse. Peace
  15. And what do you get for your money? An aging old highrise that is now a 'condominium'! Who knows? They may make in inhabitable.
  16. But those trees ... well ... hopefully would grow to be like those in the pics. I'd like palms included as well.
  17. I've all but given up on this issue. You always hear that they are working on Houston's downtown lighting, but we get the same old white lights. The Energy Capital of the World - not well represented by its downtown lighting.
  18. Bye bye Paige Parks building. I won't cry. Oh, no no no. YAY See ya later.......... in a fab skyscraper!!!!!
  19. I happened on the courthouse area for jury duty. New building is beautiful. I can't wait to see the park with the lone star. It BETTER happen!!!!!
  20. And Houstonians eat out more than folks in other cities. If the food is as good as it appears, we are talking big bucks here. And UK has been known for its bland and boring foods for so long
  21. I appreciate Mr. Denton's response. I hate it when developers or whomever say they are going to build this or build that and next thing you know, it ain't happenin'!!! Hopefully, this will be all good. I think when Houston Center was in the planning stages years ago that this mixed retail, offices, high-rise living etc. was the idea. Then after Houston Center was built during the boom years, the bust happened. Now, hopefully, Houston Pavilions will be the finishing touches to this area.
