I noticed this morning that Brown Bag Deli has relocated from the Houston Club Bldg to where Ziggy's used to be. I think they were the last tenant, so demo must be nearing.

I remember reading something that it was haunted by a maintenance man that was killed in an elevator accident.

I wonder what they'll do with the bunker/fallout shelter beneath Foley's/Macy's?
By 1968, the government’s focus had shifted to public shelters, and the city had 464 fallout shelters. The largest was in the basement of the Foley’s at 1110 Main, which could hold nearly 39,000 people. There were also shelters under City Hall and underground where the Hobby Center is today.

Maggie Rita's (Ninfa's) closed. I read somewhere that there was a Cafe Adobe sign there now.

Looks Westchasish
Exactly. Nancy of chron.com calls it flashy. Um, I call it flashNOT.

St. Anne's (the church across Westheimer from Adobe) uses the lot for overflow parking for nearly all of its surfaces. It wouldn't be a proper Catholic church if it had adequate parking.
Off Topic - How did Adobe get away with serving alcohol right across the street from a church/school. I'm comparing to the permitting issues over on Dunlavy (HEB/Fiesta Property).

I really don't like the design of this proposed building.

Maybe they're buying the Citgo and strip center as well. How close can you build residential next to a gas station?

I never realized there was underground parking right there. I wonder what type of parking facility this place will have.

The plants are all dug out of the median where the new station is going in downtown. It looks like the early stages of construction. Does anyone know which design has been selected?

I think Alamo Drafthouse will be the biggest thing to happen to Midtown since Post moved in. When are they expected to open doors? I never saw a date.

Wasn't Chelsea's the name of the bar that used to be in the basement of the old Plaza Hotel?

Ellen is making announcements at the train platforms. Like - "Hey Houston, it's Ellen, the next train arrives in 1 minute." then "Have to told someone you love them today?"

Yep, there are barricades separating the sidewalk from the street. Also, the street is all marked up with orange paint.
-
It seems like I saw barricades on the sidewalk, this morning, near Ziggy's. I'll pay better attention this evening.

Great. I'm now an uglyass, abandoned hotel. Do I have to live with that for another 995 posts?

There will be a service interruption on the Red Line this weekend in order to install tracks for the new line. It will continue to run between Fannin South and DT Transit center. Saturday is supposed to be a ride free day, for Museum Day.

Has anyone tried Pizza Love?
-
That looks pretty cool.

I live in the area, so Star Pizza will be a welcomed addition.

Carter Oosterhouse is saying on recent commercials that Rooms-To-Go is adding a second warehouse in the area. I wonder?

Why is Hines selling their Houston skyscrapers? Will they remain HQ'd there?
Hopefully, it's to gain capital to invest in new structures now that Main Place is complete.

There was a rink way out west. Either on Beechnut, Bellaire or Bissonnet. They used to have a gay disco skate night in the 80's. Drag queens on skates - hilarious!

DiverseWorks is moving to South Midtown after 20 years in a warehouse just north of downtown. "Historic Building" is at Fannin and Cleburne.

I think I was mistaken. Someone's grandfather worked there as a maintenance man and had ghost stories.
I know the ghost at Spaghetti Warehouse is supposed to be the wife of the pharmacist that worked there, who fell down the elevator shaft. She's still looking for him.
