There is an excavator onsite today, but it's not doing anything.

There was an instant pond created after the rains yesterday. It was interesting to watch stuck vehicles get out of the hole.
They are still digging. I wonder how deep they will go and what the underground area will be used for. I had read that residents would park in the adjacent garage.
-
They built back the Milam site ramp today.

They're still digging, but the only entry/exit is on the Louisiana side.

They dug out the dumptruck ramp on the Milam side this morning.

There used to be a big old house on this site. It burned in the early 80's. A friend of mine that grew up here said that an exorcism was performed there in the 70's. I remember the fire was so intense that the tailights of the cars parked at La Mexicana melted.

I'm pretty sure new windows have been installed on the lower part of the north wall.

I saw a detached container being pushed over to the Milam side of the dump truck road, today. It looked like the load was bricks. Notice that the north foundation wall of the center configuration, is gone. I guess bricks would be dumped at another location than dirt. It's to the right of your last pic.

Thanks, Graystone, for the pics. I'm your neighbor upstairs. I was going to report this, but no one believes me without photo proof. The first few layers of dirt looked like good soil and then it went red. Where do you suppose they are dumping all of this dirt?
Also, Harvey Construction is building out an office space on the first floor of the G-Rodge. No construction trailers for this site (no room). Of course, I may be just making this up too.

I have an office full of witnesses...

They just took down a tree that was on the former Milam sidewalk.

They took out most of the asphalt yesterday and are digging into the dirt today.

No! It might cause them to cancel the project and then the boom will be over! How'd you like THAT hanging over your head for the rest of your life?
Haha. Maybe I'll just start taking the shuttle to go 1 BLOCK.! Or, I could walk against traffic, so that I can see what's about to hit me.
It won't be hanging over my head if I'm dead.

They've now got both southbound sidewalks closed (Louisiana & Milam). This is creating a dangerous situation. Parkers in the garage are having to walk in the street. Downtown drivers be crazy, including Metro buses. Should I report this Hazard to the city?

Amazing that it took almost 30 years for the bulldozing of the historic buildings on that lot to be (almost) redeemed, but I'm glad it's finally happening. It's such a shame that after they were illegally turn down, it sat for so long as an empty lot.
As, I recall, the old buildings that were there burned.
-
Thats what I hear... But what is the source if you don't mind me asking.
Postings in the parking garage next door (where I park).

Why are we talking about Hines? This development is a block away from the upcoming Hines project. There's another thread on the Hines project.

They are gettin' busy with demo of this building. The technique is different than what they did at 609 Main. They're taking out the "guts" and leaving the frame (for now).

The surface lot next to the Market Square Parking Garage will be closing on July 6th due to upcoming construction. As I recall, this project is to be residential.

We just go an email that starting Jun. 1 would e closed 2 years.

I just looked out the window and saw no activity, not even soil sampling.
-
I've not seen any activity on this site, other than pedestrians using it as a shortcut. Does anybody have a timeline on when construction starts?
-
There's a big hole there this morning. Must be for the parking garage.

That house used to be the home of the Houston Women's Center.

I haven't seen what that auger thing is doing, but it's in another position today.
