  1. No I didn't see any stakes out, just a rocky path with some grass overgrown. Hopefully this means progress! It's not like they'll have trouble getting to the area, so it should progress quickly.
  2. Come on guys, all it needs is some snazzy lighting scheme at night and you know you'll love it.
  3. Saints-Texans super bowl would be tons of fun! The ratings would be horrible, but whatever, 2 in a row for my 'aints is all I care about.

  4. Hopefully not for long, every year St Arnold lead a push to change the laws about breweries and selling their own product. This state is just a racket when it comes to using distributors, apparently they have more lobby $$ than the breweries. I managed to ride my bike to the St. Arnold brewery recently, all the way from Heights via the new trail, I agree it would be an awesome place for a bar. The dbag-WAve-bud/miller light types wouldn't go near there, that's one good thing about the location.
  5. It's a Bud/Miller light culture down here. It sucks. Not that Two Rows was that great, but it was something different and I always enjoy looking at brewing equipment while drinking.
  6. I agree the SEC is down this year, and I'm an SEC homer. But I think you are crazy to say we (LSU) are a national championship contender. We are so bad, I expect 6 losses by the time it's over. The whole thing cycles, one conference can't stay on top every year. I don't see any SEC team with less than 2 losses, which means none of them will play for the title. It will likely be Ohio St vs Oregon or Nebraska. Forget Boise St, no one cares that they beat a horrible VT team any more.
  7. I agree with the point made about rail being better suited to link more dense areas. It doesn't work if the rail station is a mile from where you live and drops you off a mile from where you work. If people have to take a train and a bus I bet the likelihood of going transit gets cut in half or less (made up statistic). I would love to even take a bus to work, but it just doesn't go near there. It shouldn't, there isn't a damn thing near where I work.
  8. I don't give a flip about the Dynamo but I'm for it. What's your deal?
  9. I read it but it was late and I was dozing off - does it say whether the designation of contributing vs non-contributing is something that is done as a district is getting historical-ized, or does it only get deemed one or the other if a matter is put before the HAHC? My place is clearly non-contributing, but I'm certain that applies to the existing structures only and not if I decide to do a new structure.
  10. Cool. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/nb/heights/news/7193564.html
  11. It comes down to this - freedom of speech is regardless of polarity, but public perception is historically very good at jumping all over the outspoken negative versus the positive. On this specific issue, the building of the mosque is simply a group wanting to practice what they believe in. The act or idea of burning a bunch of Qurans doesn't stand for anything - it's just against something. So yeah, Reverend idiot is going to look like the bad guy in all of this. The anti stance is most always going to take more criticism than someone who is speaking out as pro-something.
  12. I've stated my opinions on many issues throughout this thread. It's not complex. Thanks to you it can be way more entertaining than it should be, so please keep posting your opinions as facts.
  13. What you post is not interesting. It is slightly amusing in that you put so much angst and effort toward opposing something that is going to happen no matter what you think or do, and will have zero negative effects on you once it is inevitably built. You are trying so hard to live up to this ABO image that is one of the things I hate most about my neighborhood. You are not special, and this isn't some kind of moral outrage that warrants the elite anti-everythings busting aneurysms all over the place. The city has decided that this project is beneficial to its citizens, so it has put a stake in it. Fine by me.
  14. Houston's common misconceptions are nothing compared to south Louisiana. Yes, my home is on a bayou and everything is exactly like the move The Waterboy. Discovery channel isn't helping with the new show about swamp people.
  15. s3mh, did you start another HAIF login as J008 just so you could put +1 on all of your posts? Or are they a real-life ABO lackey of yours?
  16. Did all the donut shops get together and decide they would only buy the crappiest napkins? When restaurants order napkins from the catalog are the crappy ones called "donut shop" napkins?
  17. I do like the radio broadcasts when it's hunker-down time. Something about the sound just makes it feel like something bad-ass is gonna go down.
  18. Huh, I always thought it was because they give the token update on some human atrocities taking place in Africa, read by someone with a british accent. Same thing I guess.
  19. I haven't watched the weather channel in years. If I want info I can't wait until the 8s, I just do the website and get it all right now. Weather isn't that exciting. I wouldn't be surprised if they cut way down on the on air talent in favor of keeping the updates on the 8s and random documentaries.
  20. "They" don't shop at Gap. The very thought of it makes them feel poor and gross.
  21. I don't even click on those articles/blogs any more, I'm tired of reading the BS. Really those people are just wasting their time. They've already made up their mind, as would any person who reads and agrees with it have already done. In the end it's just a bunch of disseminated bitching, and there is zero point to printing/publishing it.
  22. I'll be there all next week. I'll report back on how the ta's are received.
