  1. I agree, Why did they not put it up to the street? You would think that with the rail eventually going through and with other mixed use developments like the BBVA Compass Bank development down the street going up that they would want to make it pedestrian friendly.
  2. Welcome burgower4, +1 for you! Looks Like BLVD place will be the Houston's Galleria of the 21st Century. Here is a list of most of the stores I found listed from just the first floor: Badgley Mischka Bellini Brioni Chopard Cos Bar Courage B Diane Von Furstenberg Gregory’s H&M (Thats news) Hermes (Moving) J. Crew Collection Jimmy Choo John Lobb Karen Millen Lafco NY Leggiadro LMD Luca Luca Michael Stars Nike North Peeper Ralph Lauren Robert Talbot Tod’s Vilebrequin Vince Whole Foods
  3. Thats a nice bridge! Has there been any changes to how its going to look since those renderings?
  4. Aggressive, but I hope its true. Hopefully Golyadkin didn't talk to someone that really didn't know what they were talking about. He did mention that the guy said a 60+?? story building was going in and then the guy said it wasn't. We will all know very soon if it is true and we know that we have a source here that can keep us updated. Thanks Golyadkin! You should work for swamplot or the Chronicle or something, LOL!
  5. I think the renderings shown a few post up show some actually retailer that were supposed to locate in the River Oaks District Development. For example the Tootsies Store and Apple store, but then the recession happened and these two retailers found other upscale developments to move into because the River Oaks District was placed on hold. Tootsies moved into West Ave and Apple is building in Highland Village.
  6. +1 for you. Thanks for the information! Very informative! Will it be a 2 story Whole Foods? Have they gone back to the Flagship Plan or is it still a smaller one? It looks pretty big from the rendering. The should have just eliminated the few parking spots they have at the front and bring the building up to the street.
  7. Is Scott Gertner's Skybar not open yet? I thought it had been open fora few months now. Whats taking so long?
  8. I came here to answer your question but was beat to it. But I decided to read some of the Swamplot comments and noticed people talking about a funeral home that use to be at the corner of Sage and Westheimer. Really? Which corner? Was it where the pharmacy sits now? When did it close?
  9. Atlanta already has enough of these types of developments. Hold up, isn't there also a development in Houston similar to this also called High Street?
  10. Here is what I think happened. The owner saw his club filled with black people and that is not the vision he had for his club. He figured that when the white people he intended to attract would be turned off by so many black people and it would become known as a black hangout. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VrWd47-TXU8
  11. I came across this article on Cultremap. http://culturemap.com/newsdetail/12-29-10-hudson-lounge-caught-in-social-media-crossfire-tuesday-night-patrons-complain-they-were-kicked-out/ Seems like this place is getting a bad rap in less than 2 months of being open. The reviews have been so bad that they even shutdown their own facebook page. Have any of you all been? What was your experience? Reviews: http://www.yelp.com/biz/hudson-lounge-houston
  12. Wow so Robins Brothers is coming back. Wish that building and business could switch places with Zone d' Erotica on the other side of the freeway. Zone d' Erotica ruins the classiness of the area.
  13. I asked this question because the two jewelry stores at that location never lasted. Robbins Brothers and Spence Diamonds both closed (saw the Spence signs taken down). Why? Is it the economy? The Location? Are fewer people getting married? Or something else?
  14. I see nothing wrong with building an office tower in that area. Where would you all suggest they build it? If the traffic is a problem that is just something the city will have to deal with. They chose not to have zoning, a street grid, and rail transit. Uptown is a business district and that is where businesses should locate. Maybe the occupants of the building will offer its employees incentives to ride the bus.
  15. The article says that it shut out Houston as a possible headquarters, but what about other cities? The article makes it sound like they are looking for a new headquarters. If they are, I hope its not outside the state of Texas.
  16. Your right! What harm could saying that the builder of the high-rise was "thinking" about building again? She didn't say that they definitely were, so if its not true it won't hurt anyone. It just gives hope to those whom are interest in the project.
  17. Same thoughts. At the end of the article he said that the residential development is now interest again. We can only hope that the tall and cool hotel comes around as well.
  18. Cool! This will be huge if it happens. I think local developers will begin to take note and plan developments more like this (If its like the one in Colorado). Good to hear about new developments in the Houston area, how long has it been? Like 2-3 years since any major announcements being posted in the "going Up" section.
  19. I guess this are is going to me like a the new medical center or a mini medical center.
  20. This is really cool! Dallas has been a real forward thinking city lately. Here is a video I found of the construction now:
  21. I know people wise it was, but I was just wondering about that cluster of buildings like a little downtown area.
