  1. So the part starting at 3:00 to about 3:40 was taped in Houston. I have never seen that area, it looks like a little downtown or something. it must be torn down.
  2. Was this part of the movie really taped in Houston? The part starting at 3:00 to about 3:40. If so does this are still exist? It looked pretty urban/walkable.
  3. Good to hear he is looking for a new location. There were some great views from there.
  4. Thats a really expensive Hotel in NYC, I thought everybody had heard of it. Haven't you seen Coming to America? That is the Hotel Prince Akeem Joffer's parents and entourage stayed in when they come to get their son.
  5. Who knows, maybe they will close the Galleria location and open a signature store in this development. But not many retailers are willing to leave the Galleria for other locations.
  6. Nice! But that Tootsies makes me think that these are renderings from before the recession, because Tootsies is no going in West Ave. Hopefully these are new though and it is getting built. Nice to see parallel parking instead of front in parking.
  7. Update from the Insite Blog: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_QseH-QYr-Kk/S8-2v9EQpjI/AAAAAAAAmZg/_sMgwWHcv-0/s1600/ymca
  8. Cool! Didn't know this place existed. Would have been cooler if it was located in Montrose where the hippies lived and still existed. Is part of it still open?
  9. Just saw a Rosacea commercial that zoomed in to a few cities n the US. They zoomed in to Houston on the map to talk about someone with Rosacea and they showed the Bank of America Center looking down from the sky.
  10. I like people like you! Just Real! If not the Astrodome I say Texas could set aside maybe 4 square miles or less where developers could come in and develop a mini Vegas. Put it in an area where no one live such as somewhere in West Texas maybe the desert that way people wont complain. It would develop densely because everyone would want some of the land within the boundary. I think more people would be willing to except gambling in a concentrated boundary.
  11. Was it really? A safari sounds like a good idea though. I would still rather have it become a Movie Studio. If it doesn't become a Movie Studio it would be great if the state allowed gambling in the state only within the dome. If that were to happen, I guarantee you that Houston would be one of the top tourist destinations in Texas if not the nation.
  12. He was Houston's richest person! Wow! RIP http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dan_Duncan http://www.marketwatch.com/story/enterprise-duncan-chairman-dan-duncan-passes-away-2010-03-29
  13. If you go to the BLVD Place website and go to retail and click photos you will see what I am talking about on the 6th photo down. There is no sign, maybe that spot has never been taken.
  14. Just to bring this topic back to life after a depressing 5 months.... I wanted to show this new Whole Foods in a comparable development in Dallas near its DART rail called Park Lane. http://www.wfaa.com/video/featured-videos/New-Whole-Foods-Opens-in-North-Dallas-87671082.html It just opened. Nice right. Also, what store closed that was next to New Balance?
  15. Its going to be nice! Just wondering about the view though. When looking out of the windows from the front of the building you will see that huge power station. Is there any plan to move that thing or cover it? I think I have seen in Chicago where they covered a power station with a building, that way you would never know it was there and it looks much better.
  16. LOL! That is a little too much character. But what would Times Square be without the ads? NOTHING! Its really a site to see.
  17. I'm with you on that. I think that is what makes downtown seem so bland (in my opinion). The city allows all of these billboards and tall signs out side of downtown which I think make the city visually cluttered (thats what needs to be minimized). Why not allow them downtown and liven it up down there. Kind of like Times Square. I want to say the same about METRO, they don't allow advertisement because I they think its tacky. I personally think that it would be cool to have advertisement on sides of buses trains and stations.
  18. I could be wrong, but I thought downtown couldn't have logo's on the buildings.
  19. Houston is being featured on the 1st episode of Undercover Boss on CBS now! Waste Management CEO.
  20. I believe that is what will happen. I can see signs that the economy is improving. Last year we pretty much didn't hear of any new developments, but we are slowly starting to see new developments come about. So now is the best time for developers to thing about the future. I think thats the perfect spot for a major urban mixed use development in the Galleria area.
  21. The Stanford Financial Building in the Galleria Area is For Sale! What Should Replace it? http://swamplot.com/westheimer-office-building-and-all-allen-stanford-says-sell/2010-01-29/#more-15542 Would be a nice spot for a mixed use development.
