  1. Because Chevron is not in the business of spending money that doesn't benefit them in some way.
  2. Why? A parking lot is something we can use while a park for their employees is not.
  3. The land is being sold to Chevron. I'm pretty sure this is already done.
  4. You can rent and close any park, though. Any downtown one, at least.
  5. Interesting, that's a dead-end with fenced off businesses. I wonder if he was fleeing someone.
  6. While riding my bike the other day I saw another one of their VIP cars...a modified police cruiser that still had a police style paint job. "Not a police vehicle", said the door.
  7. The first time I went to Chacho's, I wanted a burrito. They offered regular or half-size burrito. I thought, "Who the hell would want just a half-sized burrito?" When they handed me the giant burrito brick, I thought, "Ohhhh."
  8. Chacho's is great. Obscene portions, good prices, good food. Did I mention obscene portions?
  9. Very interesting. I had heard about this place, but just tried it for the first time about 2 weeks ago for lunch. Very good food, and the rum cake was drenched and delicious.
  10. I live on the East End and would like another grocery store than that piddly Kroger on Cullen, please. And no, the Chef Boyardee sold in CVS does not count.
  11. On this thread's recommendation, I tried Thai Spice on Saturday. Summer Palace Beef was delicious!
  12. Rumor is that Discovery Green is going to be replaced by a convention center and hotel complex.
  13. He was .10 BAC, but shouldn't matter. Elevators shouldn't decapitate people.
  14. An Otis elevator was the one that decapitated the doctor several years ago at St. Joseph's. His head rolled into the elevator compartment as the elevator continued upward. The woman in the elevator was horrified. http://www.houstonpress.com/2003-10-09/new...hing-elevators/ I don't remember anything like that. Edit: Oh, looks like you were right after all.
  15. My grandfather used to have a big office in there. I believe he was the Southwest sales VP for Prudential.
  16. I work in the Med Center. FYI, that is a food court. It has some good stuff. I go there once or twice a week. Its got a nice restaurant at the top of the waterfall that I haven't been to yet.
  17. I thought this was going to be another thread about parking meters.
  18. IMO the interior looks more Pub Fiction-esque, though. :/ Not that its a bad thing, but it might draw that crowd heavily. Well, I'll always have Late Nite Pie! Edit: And heeeey, take back that Drakkar comment!
  19. I get on the internets and needle uptight suburban types about their various hangups.
  20. Kind of odd that the line going through historically black areas got named the Brown Line. You'd think someone would have picked a different color.
