  1. Looks like it will most likely be this property. Wonder what that means for parking for WOMH.... perhaps WOMH is struggling so severely during Covid that they had to sell this property.
  2. WOMH for White Oak Music Hall. https://www.houstonchronicle.com/business/article/Chicago-developer-to-build-apartments-near-White-15534163.php
  3. It doesn't matter what time of the day you go downtown now. Late at night or during the peak lunchtime hour, downtown is dead right now. I expect more restaurants and businesses to shutter downtown. Hopefully in 2021 or later this year, we have a vaccine so that people can start feeling comfortable coming back to work there and out to the bars at night. One thing I am concerned about for downtown is if we could possibly be in a fundamental shift of working from home. Granted, once this starts to calm down, more and more businesses will start hiring again and will want some of their workforce to return... but if that's the case that more people are staying out in the suburbs to work, there might be a permanent sting to downtown even with the increase residents. Hopefully we get a boom in 2021.
  4. Yea I totally skipped this part because it didn't look stable enough, even for my gravel bike too. The northern part is pretty smooth going to the Heights bike trial as you said.
  5. You're right. It's more likely crushed granite. Whatever similar material you'd walk on at Memorial Park. Either way, I didn't have any issue biking it but I was on my gravel bike. 😅
  6. Gravel path from Lower Heights District to the Heights Bike Trail is now open (blurry night time shot):
  7. This may have already been discussed here but does anyone find it odd they didn't link the Dillards to Neiman Marcus anymore? There's not even a single crosswalk. Makes me wonder if they have a big vision here to tear down the Dillards with something else and/or put a tunnel under Post Oak for a future connection.
  8. I wonder how much population growth the Heights has had in the past decade... this looks like it could hold quite a few people.
  9. I remember hearing of that connection when I first moved in this area and it was always around the corner............ back in 2012.
  10. Actually, they've had a small army working on the lot every weekday for the past few weeks. It's been impressive. I think there's just a lot of foundation work they have to do before they can press forward.
  11. Right. Chevron and other oil companies are actually fairly involved with the incubators here in Houston.
  12. Not to be a debby downer but I will not be surprised if this is closed for months. Perhaps they'll reopen this right about the same time they open the park on the hill. It does suck but at least there are alternatives, and many good suggestions in here at that. But whatever you do, do not cross on the Studemont bridge. Too incredibly narrow on the "sidewalk" and cars drive too fast to even consider biking on the road, imo.
  13. The information was leaked before it was supposed to be made public. This can lead to all sorts of issues and sets up the possibility of legal trouble for keeping it on our site and the person that posted it.
  14. UPDATE ON PARK: They have cleared most of the trees south of Memorial where the land bridge will be. Can anyone find the original master plan PDF that had a lot more detail? I clicked on the link here in this thread but it's apparently dead now. I'm trying to figure out if they are going to be moving Memorial further south for the tunnel.
  15. I've had this picture since July 29th and totally forgot to post: 1512 Center St. by Marc longoria, on Flickr
  16. We removed the thread after a request from the architects of the school. You won't be able to find it.
  17. It was hard to tell but it appeared people were navigating the Chimney Rock bridge tonight (I-69 south). Would be the first day I've seen that open.
  18. It would appear everything is finished now. I am guessing they are waiting for the pandemic to be over? Discovery Green by Marc longoria, on Flickr Discovery Green by Marc longoria, on Flickr Discovery Green by Marc longoria, on Flickr Discovery Green by Marc longoria, on Flickr
  19. As a bicyclist, the Yale and Center intersection improvements are huge for me. I have almost been killed at this intersection twice by people confusing the green light at Washington as their green light for Center St while driving along Yale. So yes, please please improve. It's incredibly dangerous and I see people running super late reds all the time.
  20. Based on what I can tell, they are more there for style rather than some future expansion.
