    Here's a blog post from Haynes Whaley detailing the installation of the last part of the spire trio atop what they call the "tiara". The post should be checked for a few things, one of which is the figure given for the height. I'm pretty sure it should read 465'-6" instead of 565', since it's 476' to the top of St Luke's twin spires and it certainly isn't taller than that. http://hwablog.com/blog/2009/07/the-methodist-hospital-outpatient-care-center-completes-its-crown/

    That image from the aerial map is the 14-story Homewood Suites, which was finished in 2006. Not bad when you consider both went up around the same time (Courtyard was finished in 2007).

    I heard there was a book or at least a few articles that chronicled the design competition. If either is true, does anyone know what they are or if they could be found? I know the structure is profiled in compilation books about several of the architects, but that's it. I've been thinking of compiling a bunch of the period articles together so people could have a better understanding of what exactly was going on during the time. Certainly one of the more interesting planning phases that I've seen, and just the fact that even when BOtSW fell through, the later owners of the land (Senterra) maintained that a highrise was still planned for the lot. Even if it was a lot of blown smoke, its still kinda hard to think it wound up as surface parking in that context.

    Because they have yet to really even start, I'm guessing. Only Wednesday, around midday, did they begin to move the construction trailer onto the site. Looked like half of a double-wide, IIRC. So, I'd say they're still in the process of getting equipment to the lot.

    They finished up fencing off the lot today. Kinda interesting that as they were finishing up, other nearby lots were charging a premium price for the Graduation Ceremonies happening at Toyota Center.
