  1. A winter tree. Just kidding. Christmas tree of course. No question.
  2. The closest thing is "Clash of the Choirs". It's a limited run reality series starting Monday on NBC. It's several singers representing choirs from their hometowns which will compete against each other. Kelly Rowland will represent Houston. http://www.nbc.com/Clash_of_the_Choirs/ Here's a short video promo of the Houston choir: http://www.nbc.com/Clash_of_the_Choirs/video/#mea=194568
  3. This should be interesting. What time will it be released our time?
  4. Penn Rettig Mansion At 1920 Woodbury St. I'm looking for the historic mansion owned by the Rettig's ice cream family. Any info? The 1920 Woodbury house was built in 1930 by Katharine and Harry Mott and belonged to the estate of Penn Rettig, of Rettig’s Ice Cream, until 1991. The next owner added several structures to the house, including a cave and Romanesque outdoor stage, and eventually purchased a demolition permit for the property in July, 2007, and the house was demolished. The property was sold to Moody National Bank, which plans to construct “Cambridge Tower” on the parcel of land.
  5. I love it, too! People keep whining that it doesn't feel like Christmas. What is Christmas supposed to feel or look like, what we see in those cheesy made-for-Lifetime/Hallmark Channel Christmas movies or commercials? No thank you. This suits me just fine.
  6. When I was little there was this joke: What color are Dolly Parton's new shoes? Of course the person replies, "I don't know". Neither does she. Ha ha. "Sneakin' around with you, keepin' it all brand new, getting the best of you..."
  7. It may be a bad movie, I agree, but those songs have been stuck in my head for over a week. I even contemplated downloading some, but it might cause later embarrassment so I haven't. Yet. Still singing, "20 fans were turnin', they were turnin', 20 fans were turnin' in every room. Fevers were a burnin'..." "Oooh, I love to dance a little sidestep. Now they see me now they don't..." Somebody help me.
  8. Is it new? My sister lives in Katy and has two little kids and I've never even heard of it.
  9. I ate at Fish Tales a couple of months ago and had the crab cake sandwich. There was a little shell in there, but otherwise good.
  10. Why does this awful movie have to have such catchy tunes? "Yeah, every girl that lives here know Miss Mona's no-no rules" LOL! http://youtube.com/watch?v=4873mPdm1Ro I love the banjo music at 1.52! It's like that old "Family Fued" theme! Does anyone know if Marvin Zindler was offended by Dom DeLuise's portrayal? It's pretty rough.
  11. Probably not, but I don't like regular bacon. My breakfast choices are kind of limited because I hate bacon, sausage, eggs and milk. This morning I just had some instant apple cinnamon oatmeal and cranberry pomegranate juice. I'm not huge on breakfast. That's disgusting. I would have left, too. I wouldn't want that around my food.
  12. Try some turkey bacon, toast, oatmeal, fruit.
  13. Oh, those? They're just piddly squatin' old time country places, nothing too high tone. Just lots of good will and maybe one small thrill, but there's nothing dirty going on.
  14. The last Sizzler I ate at was the one near the Staples Center in L.A. I forgot that Houston had them.
  15. Oh ok. Yeah, I'm familiar with that one.
  16. On the news last night they said that he appeared in one of the most famous rap videos ever? I've never heard of Pimp C before. But then hip hop is down there with country as my least favorite music.
  17. A city the size of Houston should be higher.
  18. Ha ha! I saw that movie for the first time several months ago. I'm sure radio stations got that a lot back then. Misty or not, the weather these past couple of days were a nice welcome after that cold and dreary Thanksgiving week. The weather currently has that late, late Houston winter feel. It makes me feel energetic and physically great.
  19. So do I! I was even going to mention one of those balls you get from the vending machines. So you've thought about it, too.
  20. Have any of you seriously wondered what it would feel like to bite into an eyeball?
  21. 2:55 pm. We did everything we could. I'm so sorry.
  22. My favorite holidays are Easter, July 4th and New Year's.
  23. Silly. That's not Ellen. Ellen did, however, have a hit in the mid '90s: http://youtube.com/watch?v=A3BIHlrPLzk She epecially looks herself during the chorus.
  24. I wish I felt worse than I do. Too bad that those guys had to go down that path.
