  2. Seems like it's all about the concerts now more than before. I haven't been in about 5 years. Last rodeo I attended was the one with Enrique Iglesias performing. Man, he was embarrassingly bad and cheesy. The cookoff the weekend leading up to the rodeo is what I like. My aunt and uncle always participate, so I'm able to get into theirs and eat for free. Mmm, that's good. Haven't done that in several years, though.

  4. I heard that the Houston visitor's center is the largest in the U.S. Don't know if it's true.
  5. After the Astros' season was over, I thought the Rockets would be a great consolation to their absence and to the Texans' constant losing. No so. They've been almost as disappointing as the Texans. They're supposed to be better than this. I only care about the Houston teams; they're the only teams I watch and root for. Sports are meaningless to me otherwise. I'm a very frustrated fan.
  6. :giggle giggle: Sheesh, what a terrible thought, though. That would super suck. Thank God for Fiesta and Kroger stores.
  7. I got a sneak peek of the design for the T-shirt and it looks really cool. They'll be shipped to Academy stores overnight.
  8. I know! He used to be fairly good looking. He looked like a corpse from the "Thriller" video.
  9. Oh ok. I knew it was someone I was frightened of as a child and Twisted Sister and KISS were both responsible for that. I was also thinking Quiet Riot.
  10. For next year, I think the Astros need a season-long theme and I think it should be "We're Not Going to Take It" by that '80s/or maybe '70s group (was it KISS?)
  11. So I guess we don't get a theme song. They might as well have whistled during the Astros' introduction yesterday.
  12. Probably more than Michael McDonald and Jon Secada. If the Astros lose tonight and tomorrow, we won't have to listen to Big & Rich. Needless to say, I hope we have to listen to Big & Rich. Yeah, well, I like Josh Groban, but their other choice, Lou Rawls, isn't exactly all that impressive either. But he is at least a Chicago native, I think. I would have chosen Houston's Kenny Rogers, Destiny's Child/or Beyonce (I know, typical) and Kelly Clarkson (not a Houstonian, but a Texan). I like Kelly, the people like Kelly and she's talented. I would also have gotten Clint in place of those Big and Rich goofballs. I wonder who will sing "God Bless America".
  13. Game 3: Michael McDonald Game 4: ? Game 5: Big & Rich Just heard it on the radio. The game 4 performer got by me. We'll know sooner or later.
  14. The performer of the National Anthem for Thursday night's game in Houston is :drumroll: dududududududududududududududududududu....... Diane Nichols from Muscatine, Iowa! No kidding. http://www.muscatinejournal.com/articles/2.../news/news3.prt EDIT: Oh my! I'm so sorry. That's an old article from one of last year's regular season games. I should have known better after the article referred to the Cubs. I thought it was a typo.
  15. Straying off topic a little, does anyone know who will sing the National Anthem in Houston? Or do they only do that for game 1 of the World Series?
  16. Paul Wall has an Astros-themed rap song out as well.
  17. No, I haven't seen it, but would love to. Could you please post the link here? Thanks.
  18. I'm still trying to think of one. I really do like "What a Feeling". It perfectly describes the mood of the city right now. Local rapper Chamillionaire has his own Astros anthem out right now, but it's not something you hear and want jump up and scream "Yeah! Right on!" to. At least it doesn't have that effect on me. If they win the World Series, I hope they can manage to be more creative and play something other than "We Are the Champions".
  19. Does anyone know if the Astros will have a theme? The White Sox are using "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey. Channel 11 was using "What a Feeling" by Irene Cara as an intro to their Astros coverage. I like that. What do you think?
  20. I don't know much about football. How come the Texans suck so bad and can't win?
  21. New article: Sept. 14, 2005, 10:11PM THE THRILL IS GONE Six Flags' buying spree leads to rough landing Empire's growth may have doomed AstroWorld By SEAN MURPHY Associated Press http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/business/3354452
  22. Thanks for sharing those pictures, jb4647. It's great that you have those. I guess I've got pictures somewhere around. The Astrodome sure looked purdy. I've been visiting that site since the announcement was made. Mostly just reading the forums, though. Too depressing to look at the other content. Something else I loved at Astroworld was the shooting gallery in Western Junction. Interactive animatronics are so neat.
