  1. Have you heard about the Ashby high-rise ??
  2. A bit more info on the thug-wannabes in this article http://www.khou.com/story/news/crime/2015/03/12/two-arrested-in-connection-with-carjacking-shooting/70254648/
  3. A 15yr old and 16yr old have been arrested..... http://www.click2houston.com/news/2-shootings-in-midtown-overnight-possibly-connected/31751922
  4. This should be a nice addition to that area which is a bit sketchy right now... http://swamplot.com/staking-out-the-new-high-school-for-law-and-justice-on-scott-st/2015-03-12/
  5. I see some similarities starting to show up -- the little mock-up they built has similar dark brick. The one corner appears to have a 2 story ground floor that could be the rental office area shown in the Strata picture...some of the large overhangs seem to match the Strata pic also.....
  6. There was another shooting a couple blocks away possibly related.....scary !
  7. A new "coastal Mexican" restaurant/bar - La Grange - will be opening soon... http://houston.culturemap.com/news/restaurants-bars/03-10-15-landmark-montrose-bar-to-be-reborn-under-new-owners-laidback-margaritas-patio-power-to-replace-go-go-dancers/
  8. Because you only pay on a portion of the land - the land is "owned" by all the condo owners
  9. I just moved from a condo to a home... Insurance costs less with a condo Property taxes are less with a condo (assuming comparable values of course) Utility bills (gas/electric/water/sewer), cable bills - this also depends on what is covered by maint fees - our fees covered water/sewer and cable, but not electric/gas - some maintenance fees cover all these Security system/monitoring - I didn't need one in my condo, necessity in my home Auto insurance - this may not apply depending on your insurance company, I got a slightly better rate for owning a home with a garage vs condo parking lot Those are the main ones off the top of my head - I will add others if I think of them...
  10. One of my friends lives in the town homes across Dallas from that lot (he's also a realtor)....I have him checking it out to see if he can find out what is going on...
  11. I rode my bike through the area last weekend - a lot of work being done on the roads and infrastructure....the station with the stairs and elevator (pics in this thread: http://www.houstonarchitecture.com/haif/topic/7525-the-metro-north-rail-line/page-13)looks really out of place since it is out in the middle of nowhere with little other development around it....of course that will change as they continue to develop the area....
  12. Interesting read from a long time Montrose-based police officer's POV.... http://montrosedistrict.org/law-and-order-montrose-why-the-mean-streets-of-the-city-arent-so-mean-anymore/
  13. It just seems that they are everywhere....I did a search on Mattress Firm's website for stores within 10 miles of 77006 (that was the smallest distance they would show) and there were 24 stores within 10 miles of 77006.
  14. It's really going to be interesting watching this area grow.....I ride through here on my bike or drive through daily....it's fun trying to pick out what is being worked on
  15. Here's the link in case anyone wants to read it: http://houston.eater.com/2015/2/16/8047481/rejoice-margarita-lovers-el-tiempo-1308-cantina-wont-close-after-all
  16. I ride the trail a lot and have had no issues at all....
  17. They have started the construction of the wood portions....I couldn't get a picture as I was driving by - will get one on my next bike ride
  18. Just saw the listings for this development on HAR - the "hole" will be a pool....
  19. From what it looks like, the bike lane ends at Discovery Green - that means you're on your own from there.... Polk does have a bike lane part of the way I live on Lamar (next to Columbia Tap Rail), there isn't hardly any traffic once you get east of downtown so it isn't a big deal to ride on the streets to the Columbia Tap... I can't wait for the bike lane to be finished, now that the trains are in use, I have lost my "bike lane" that I used to use to get to west side trails
  20. It's being talked about here: http://www.houstonarchitecture.com/haif/topic/31776-21-acre-industrial-site-west-of-downtown/
  21. It's not the size that is the problem, it's the price....$345/sq ft is crazy (plus maintenance fee)....
  22. The same thing is happening at the Texas and Dowling Street corner (at BBVA Compass Stadium)....people are turning right on red, going across the tracks, while there is at least 1 "No Right Turn on Red" sign, a large lit-up No Right Turn sign up next to the stop light, plus the red stop light is a red arrow...a truck turned right in front of a train running a test a couple days ago...
  23. Houston named #1 fastest growing city http://www.forbes.com/sites/erincarlyle/2015/01/27/americas-fastest-growing-cities-2015/
