  1. Well they could always take the lightrail to the musuem district and get cultured.
  2. Personally, I think a downtown Hooters would make a killing during lunchtime. But I would also like to see some of the smaller chains down there, like Kahunaville, The Bamboo Club, etc. And I think a lot of the retail that should be down there is the hip trendy type stuff, while Uptown gets the high-end upscale stuff. As for The Pavillions, I'm picturing the type of stores and restaurants you would find at a Downtown Disney, kinda touristy.
  3. When you move your cursor over the girl on that page, you can make it look like she's being attacked by bugs, or her skin is flaking off. I was entertaining myself earlier at work
  4. I love the Fuzzy's pizza over near Memorial, mhhmmmm, it's tasty, oh, and that Collina's place near the Village
  5. The only thing I really like at Pappadeaux's is thier crawfish bisque, and dipping their bread in it. I haven't been to very many seafood restaurants here, I don't eat it often, but so far I think Willie G's is my favorite. I've been told I need to try Goode Company Seafood though.
  6. I really like the Willie G's over in Uptown, I think it's it tasty!
  7. Golly, that development looks huge, it most be covering more land than I thought. Does it cross San Felipe? I can't see the Verizon store in the pic
  8. Well what is currently there is called Pavillions on Post Oak.........I think.
  9. I love the AIM building pic, it's uber. Why did that one die? Did they run out of money? I have money I could donate, I was going to use this 99cents for two tacos at Jack in the Box, but what the heck!
  10. Okay, why is Foley's still opening new stores? I know they're also opening a new one in The Shops at La Cantera in SA and plan on opening one in some new retail project in Austin. Is Macy's keeping the Foley's brand around now? I thought they were converting some Foley's to Macy's and closing the rest.
  11. Sounds like Downtown Disney in Orlando. All the stores are facing the main walkway, none face out where the parking lot is, it's the back of all the buildings facing the parking lot, and that's fine for a Disney project in Orlando, but not so much for downtown, you don't want to walk down Dallas St pass the BACKS of all the stores. I still really want this project to happen, just kind of a bummer about the design, I figured there would be stores facing a central area plaze type thing, but then also stores facing the street.
  12. I suppose you're right, I mainly think of the Main Street club scene. Oh, and they need a Taco Bell downtown.
  13. I don't want to wait until 2025, I want it now! I'll be like 42 in 2025, I probably won't even want to go downtown by then, all those dang kids!
  14. I think the last I've heard was the the project wouldn't start until early '06, so I'm guessing we'll be getting more information this fall.
  15. Any updates on this project? construction start dates? pictures?
  16. Will this be the first American Apparel in Texas? I can't remember if there's already one in Austin.
  17. Okay, so what exactly is the "Hardy Yard Development?" I've never heard of this. Is it another Midtown type thing?
  18. Oh, and why would they build "brownstones" in Uptown? Doesn't seem to match, especially with those new lofts sorta across the street but a little bit down from Fashion Square
  19. But wait, what's going to happen too Eatzi's, I can't survive without my Eatzi's! I won't make it if they tear it down and I have to wait until they build something new!
  20. "Also, do you think Dillards would go for getting torn down and being put out for 6 months to a year before re-opening though? Big loss for them at that location. It would have to be right after the New Year when sales are the slowest." I think they would survive, especially with one at MC now, and I'm sure they would benefit having a newer, better laid out store than what's currently there, plus they would now actually be connected to the mall, instead of people having to go outside and cross the street. Also, I was thinking a skyway like the one Galleria 4 uses, with the retail, but I couldn't figure out how to do it with Neimans in the way. Oh, and it should have super keen architecture, since it will be facing 610 (maybe they can bulldoze over that Erotic Zone). If there is open land near Galleria 4 where they could do an expansion without people having to go through an anchor store, that would be much better! I'd have to see the area again, since I can't visualize where the open land is. And I only brought Galleria 5 up because I remember when they were building 4, the developers did say they had plans for a 5, but not for at least 5-10 years after 4 was to open, but that could have just been big talk. I was also thinking maybe they could open up a California Pizza Kitchen for the Veranda food thingie 27 was talking about. I know there is one at Post Oak and San Felipe, but maybe they could close that location, and actually that whole shopping center, and do something better with that land, like condos, office tower, or more of an "urban" retail center (I know, it's Houston, but still!)
