  1. Also I think the name of the team shoud be based on where the stadium is built. If it's built downtown, then it should be something space, like Apollos or something (although I wanted to save Apollos for our future NHL team), since they'll be playing near the Astros and Rockets. If it's at Reliant, then something Texas-ey, like Mustangs or whatever. Looking at the names of AEGs other teams, I don't see it getting "FC" or "AC" or whatever, but instead a Houston + Mascot name. But anyways, I hope they're not still considering Delmar.
  2. Noooo, it's gotta be built on the old AstroWorld parking space next to Reliant! Then it can tie in with the Reliant Convention Center and whatever redo of the Astrodome, and lightrail access. Plus, I don't think there would be any overlap with the MLS season and NFL, and no overlap with the Rodeo.
  3. Well it is being built inside the beltway loop! As far the inner loop, there is that project proposed for the HISD HQ site on Richmond.
  4. Okay, I was thinking this project was gonna be smaller, but after looking at the site layout, the place looks huge! It looks like it's gonna be larger than the project proposed for the HISD HQ site on Richmond, is that right? Oh yeah, one more question, on the site layout, in the top corner there's a spot that says "Future Development", but I think that's where the Radisson is, so is that hotel coming down?
  5. WIth the talk of a Galleria expansion, where would they build? I'm no visionary, so there may be a way around it, but it seems the Galleria is getting pretty landlocked nowadays.
  6. Well the Bloomingdales can't go into the Macy's space because it has to anchor the Galleria 5 I've created in my head. And speaking of movie theaters, sorta in the same area of town, a friend of a friend of a guy who knows someone who knows someone else told me they're building a movie theater at Memorial City Mall, is this true?
  7. Well with the James Coney Island on Post Oak closing soon to make way for those news condos, I wonder how much time that McDonalds has left before it's closed to make room for condos or something. I may be crazy, but the land it sits on has got to be worth more than the actual store itself, even if it is a rare two storey McDonalds.
  8. Do they have those air fries? they seem to be popular at these type places
  9. Well they could never totally grow into each other because of the musuem district and Herman park, right? I might be geographically confused.
  10. Paseo looks nice, along with Pavillions, Boulevard Place, and City Centre. I'm sure out of those 4, at least one will actually get built, but hopefully all.
  11. I don't even know how successful a new Virgin Megastore would be, I'm sure it would attract people who would come to browse and listen to music, but how many of those people would then buy product, especially now that iTunes is taking over everything. And even for people who actually like to have the CD instead of downloading, I'm sure BestBuy and Target are still cheaper options than Virgin.
  12. Well it's good you've had pleasant experiences with the homeless, but I was harrassed going to a Rockets game, and no, I didn't do anything to provoke it, besides saying I don't have any change. So running into the homeless downtown is not always a pleasant experience for everybody, and I'm not saying they are all a nuisance, but they're not all delightful either.
  13. Well that's not a location I would have expected to see a mixed/use, that's over by Second Baptist right? I think someone around here said that Memorial City Mall is now or it's expected to be the center of population in Houston, so I guess it makes sense.
  14. Okay, I know last I heard the lot had been cleared for this project, but has actual construction started yet?
  15. Speaking of, has anyone seen the video that's been forwarded by email, of the guy at the Comets game dancing to that song? It's pretty funny.
  16. Yup. Look at the two Starbucks across from each other, they both do good, you pick which one you wanna go to based on which side of the street you're driving on. Oh, and imagine if the resident tower they put in at Macy's was 40 stories, and so was the Turnberry, both near Williams Tower, that would look pretty sweet in my opinion.
  17. So a Borders and Barnes&Noble basically right across the street from each other? I pity the B Daltons. Is it gonna be like Borders taking up the 2nd floor of Lord & Taylor and the restaurants on the bottom floor? More questions, the residential going in at the Macy's, will it be built of top of the Macy's, using the Macy's as a shell, with access to the Galleria, or is the whole building be torn down? And then what's gonna happen to Galleria 3 afterwards? I say turn it into a movie theater or something, I dunno. Or if they leave the Galleria 3 there, maybe put in stuff that the people in the residential part would use, like a cafe, or a Crunch type gym place.
  18. Has it been two weeks yet? Not that I'm impatient or anything........
  19. Oh, also, what's "LUCY"? Is it one of those I Love Lucy collectible stores? And I didn't notice House of Blues on that list the first time I looked at it, but House of Blues is a good time, the food isn't fantastic or anything, but it's a fun atmosphere.
  20. Well H&M has been on the East coast for about 10 years now, I've been to the one in D.C, it's good stuff for cheap. I think it would be a good fit in the Pavillions or that Sakowitz building.
  21. I think to get more people to actually live downtown, it needs to have places people know, like Chili's and Hooters, besides, those places would do great with the business lunch crowd, along with a Taco Bell and IHOP for anytime crowd. I don't think these places need to be on Main Street, just somewhere in downtown. Meanwhile, I think the north main area should be reserved for the trendy hip restaurants, the type you'd find on the Las Vegas Strip nowadays. And in Pavillions I think should have some of those touristy "exclusive" type chain places, like ESPN Zone or Emerils or something. I'm babbling.
  22. What all is this thing suppose to have anyways? I know the article compared it to some other places around the country, like Grapevine, but I don't know what those places have. Would there be movie theaters, IMAX, IMAX rides, roller coasters, etc..? I think it said there would also be retail, but what kind do you think would work there, it would have to be able to survive when no game or convention is going on. I know London has their big dome, the Millennium Dome, what's all in that? I think if they're going to do this, they should just go all out, balls to the walls. And as for that river, I think it should start at Reliant Stadium, and flow to the Astrodome, with a scenic walkway along it, then when it gets to the Astrodome have it flow inside, then a waterfall (the Astrodome does go below the surface, right?), then at the waterfall is the start of the river in the Astrodome, with the San Antonio river walk stuff. This thing probably isn't going to turn out like I have it in my head, but instead some kind of kitschy nightmare.
