Parkside Residences: 43-Story Residential High-Rise At 808 Crawford St.
sapo2367 replied to largeTEXAS's topic in Downtown
This temporary wall popped up in the Hess building garage a month or two ago. It would be the correct location to connect through to parkview. Now they just need to build out over the road to the Marriott! Connect the tunnel and convention center systems together.- 1,224 replies

Yeah it is a pity that getting from the navigation esplanade area to eado proper is so awkward with the train crossings. This would be doubly so for east river as the Jensen bridge is not the most fun to cross by foot.

Love it! I wonder what the styling will be for the renovation. Sounds like an opportunity to do some cool retro vibes.

IIRC there is a bit of a height difference between the trail and the building at this location, probably made it hard to directly connect. However there is a trail entrance on the other side of the street

Somewhere in the various links I saw that this property includes the option to remove white oak alley. -

@wilcal did some great photoshop showing the Montrose HEB on this property -- there is a ton of space for everyone's Ford F-250 even with a single story HEB :) I believe the only 2 story part of the Heights HEB is the pharmacy on the ground floor. -
Doing some cursory clicking around in google maps, I get about ~10 miles of additional trails! Pretty cool, that would put the white oak trail at 25 miles end to end.

Not sure if this is somewhere else on the forum, but they are adding a significant amount of trails to the north end once this project is completed https://www.hcfcd.org/Activity/Active-Projects/White-Oak-Bayou/C-14-Federal-Flood-Damage-Reduction-Project https://www.hcfcd.org/Portals/62/Watershed/White-Oak/Pct1-CEM-2020-12-03 v8.pdf The original timeline was Spring 2022, but idk how well they are doing sticking to that.

Lol this is a VERY different vibe from the old Franks backyard. It looks really nice though!

Yeah on Arch Con's website both of these are shown in the same slideshow, obviously one of these is an outdated version. https://www.arch-con.com/divisions/multifamily/the-mill-mixed-use/ Design 1 Design 2

Its referring to the rumor that Landrys was buying the olshan property -- which isnt this rendering but the whole discussion was on this thread.

Olshan Lumber Company At 2600 Commerce St.
sapo2367 replied to JBTX's topic in EaDo, the East End, and East Houston
In college I spent some time in Germany and shopped at ReWe (I did walk to it btw). My fav part was the ‘American’ section with muffins and peanut butter (complete with the Stars and Stripes on the packaging). That and the fact that the were always playing acoustic covers of Rihanna songs on the PA system. I was probably there 2x a week because my fridge/kitchen was really small, but it was super convenient so it wasn’t a big deal. Once every other month I’d go a few tram stops down to the larger target-like store for bulk items or things ReWe didn't have. All it all it wasn’t a bad way to live :) -

Memorial Park At 6501 Memorial Dr.
sapo2367 replied to themidtownguy's topic in Uptown and Galleria Area
Yeah this is mentioned in the 10 year plan but there is no details yet on construction timeline. I worry the picnic loop will be demolished and then it will be years before the new cycle loop is built. The proposal looks way better than the picnic loop -- especially for the weeknight bike races that used to happen at MP. Def saw someone break their leg crashing into one of those wooden stumps around the edge of the road :( -
I'm curious, what part of town do people consider this? I know the category is downtown but it is north of I10, which in my head makes it part of near northside. Maybe "Warehouse district"? it is a warehouse after all.

Don't expect any improvements to the picnic loop -- I believe it is due to be replaced with a more natural area and more trails (Bayou wilds section) https://issuu.com/memorialparkhouston/docs/mph_mpbook_final_small_webversion_a_c7f9e7eed3d03c As someone who bikes in the picnic loop regularly this is pretty sad, it's one of the few car free spots to go bike at night (the lights make it a lot less sketchy than some of the bayou trails) -- the master plan mentions a new bike trail over on the west side of the park, but I have yet to hear any mention of that being built. -
I-45 Rebuild (North Houston Highway Improvement Project)
sapo2367 replied to ToryGattis's topic in Traffic and Transportation
TXDOT seems to have purchased all three blocks of Lofts at the Ballpark, so that would align with the news that all tenants are getting kicked out. I do hope though that this doesn't get mired in some sort of legal morass with an empty apartment building sitting there for an extended period of time. I could see that getting really run down and sketchy.- 3,351 replies

Agree — if you have to explain that the company building a railroad is not a railroad company, you’re losing :)

Isn't the famous quote "If you're explaining, you're losing"? I feel like that fits this pretty well.
