  1. i changed the title. let me know if it's ok or what you'd prefer.
  2. yes!.........and the connection to the spring creek greenway project is an added bonus. http://www.springcreekgreenway.org/Spring%20Creek%20Greenway%20Gateway%20Parks%20Map%20-%20March%202009.pdf the nature preserve at springwoods is connected to a 12000 acre preservation/recreation greenbelt between tomball and kingwood.
  3. there IS quite a bit of land immediately north of the development, between the river and the main road into springwoods, east of the holzworth extension and west of i-45. looking at a google map of the woodlands, would the holzworth extension connect with budde road or sawmill, i wonder?
  4. it would stand to reason that coventry would be necessary to get the infrastructure in place before xom. xom's promise to move to the development could conceivably be a factor in the development getting off the ground.
  5. curious as to why one side is completely windowless. it's an attractive building and then.....nothing on that side.
  6. .........little bird has been busy lately. the woodlands continues to attract big name retailers. big spenders who are "not from around these parts" must be spending freely. following tiffany & co, market street is rumored to be getting a "bb" and the woodlands mall may yet land a "nm". it's hard to believe there are still houses for sale under $130K in walking distance. oh, and the luxury senior living facility facade..........brick. boooooooo!
  7. .......a little bird told me that a staging area for construction is built with a large crane in place at the proposed exxon location. could this be something other than what we think?
  8. culturemap update culturemap saying the groundbreaking starts in august (article dated sept 29th, 2010). not sure if they mean next year or should have broken ground by now.
  9. those pictures hurt to look at. beautifully executed discovery green with a tan and beige symbol of banality overshadowing. we need the artist who did the building caricature for "stop the ashby highrise" posters to do a drawing for haif expressing our dismay over the ES finished product; the mean ugly building encroaching over our well designed park.
  10. brookfield purchasing the property means: they got a good deal? they acquire more parking and space for future development? will they now ask more for the office space in "Total Plaza" with a better view? wasn't the property ready for redevelopment? anyone reading between the lines and want to share?
  11. anyone have a warehouse on navigation? numbers should move east/south east from downtown.
  12. i danced with (next to) andy bell on the stage at numbers one night. no concert, he wasn't with anyone. he was just dancing, little girl's barrettes in his hair, butterflies, bows......he said he loved dancing or something like that. we didn't realize who it was until later. erasure wasn't well known back then.
  13. this may signal the end of an era...................how significant is numbers? let's reminisce....who has played the numbers' stage? siouxsie & the banshees, REM, grace jones, the village people, stray cats, english beat, grand master flash, the waitresses, katrina and the waves, bow wow wow, the pointer sisters, wall of voodoo, the call, madness, marianne faithful, romeo void, the fixx, thompson twins, book of love, the cure, the cult, the divinyls, skinny puppy, ministry, the judy's, general public, clann of xymox, revco, love and rockets, jane's addiction, thomas dolby, big pig, jesus and mary chain, the church, mighty lemon drops, erasure, tackhead, sugarcubes, suicidal tendencies, the bangles, skatenigs, edie brickell and the new bohemians, red flag, thrill kill kult, front 242, the replacements, the pogues, split second, the pixies, the hunger, public image limited, nine inch nails, soundgarden, flesh for lulu, kmfdm, violent femmes, meat beat manifesto, die warzau, front line assembly, loop guru, consolidated, severed heads...just a few from 1980-1990. will be sad to see it go....maybe they will upgrade the property; bring it up to code.
  14. any opinions on "the molly ringwalds"?

    1. Porchman

      Porchman

If you're mean Molly and the Ringwalds...fun cover band, fun dance band.

  15. so sad....a complete waste. if you find out, post the info please!! thanks.
  16. ..........unfortunately, all those great amenities do not make the building more appealing.
  17. is that sarcasm? i'm not gettin' a "beaut" feeling about this at all. it's a far cry from the first rendering. better than a parking lot, yes; attractive addition to discovery green area, nope.
  18. if a realtor asks to perform "due diligence" researching a property, will they expect something in return?

    1. TheNiche

      TheNiche

Red flag. The Realtor's payment is contingent upon the transaction going through. That would be a conflict of interest, seeing as how the due diligence process tends to kill deals.

  19. excellent! thank you for sharing. i hoped that someone would take pictures as i could not make it. was there any discussion of potential buyers?
  20. ditto! does anyone know if the montrose blvd conservancy is still kicking? the walkable montrose plan would certainly solidify this area as "walkable". i like this location for this building; however, i'd like it even more if the montrose blvd improvements were progressing. i do not see any activity on the conservancy website since '08.
  21. market street reports..."Openings scheduled by this fall include Schilleci’s New Orleans Kitchen where diners can enjoy the restaurant’s unique taste of New Orleans with great-tasting gumbo, hearty po-boys and other favorites. Another Market Street newcomer is The Cupcakery, a family-owned business with locations in Las Vegas and Dallas where more than one million cupcakes have been enjoyed." a flying saucer town center location rumor has resurfaced....could be a good sign. although disappointed that a red onion concept did not materialize in the sirenuse' space at 24 waterway, the (fingers crossed) soon to be announced location taker will surely make other suburbs green with envy. a martini bar concept is about to pop up somewhere in town center. an eye witness noticed some official looking "look-see" going on at the old chocolata location across from hubbell & hudson recently. do not know if the two are related, but the location would be great for a non-brew serving type establishment. on the roxx, maybe? shenandoah's portofino center may be getting a spring creek bbq location along with the bj's restaurant & brewhouse currently under construction. alden bridge residents will have a new healthy eatery featuring gluten free menu items, near rico's in the alden bridge shopping center. lest i forget, kita, the new japanese restaurant at 24 waterway is delicious (and beautiful)! the woodlands township recently approved a $25K study for a permanent performing arts location in town center. the waterway marriott is undergoing or about to undergo a multi-million dollar update. the senior living center on the waterway at grogan's mill is topped out....still anxious about the facade. i so hope they don't go "brick"! give me cement, steel, glass or stone please.
  22. walmart at this location will be a big success.....and if it doesn't look like every other walmart, great. (....and yes, i like to do the clicky ratings buttons without explanation. you can't make me talk! some people don't want to get into the mix but want to be a part of it on some level. no need to call them out, it's kinda unfriendly.)
  23. added several historic houston items today. a cousin forwarded several scans of houston places and people recently: pictures include the alabama theater, marvin zindler, 7 eleven, humble oil gas station, blue grass inn/kentucky fried chicken, astroworld, shamrock......thought some of you would enjoy.
