If the city paid to cap it, I’m sure developers would convince the TIRZ to ditch the park idea and let them build townhomes instead lol

Can we also have these cap parks next to all of the “Montrose bridges” on 59 please?! 😍

The Big-Tex storage facility currently being constructed at 4503 Montrose will also be very visible from 59. I hope they dress it up a little, especially since it’s essentially steps away from the heart of the Museum District just over the freeway.

I remember that Taco Cabana! When did it switch over to Smoothie King?

What’s the plan for the large shopping strip next to this place (3939 Montrose)? Seems like it’s mostly vacant, with a few tenants still left. Timberline Gym has long since relocated further south, and Canopy has been closed for almost 3 years. Would love to see an exciting new development in that spot as well. In some ways, I feel like the respect and admiration longtime Houstonians have for Montrose is lost on Newstonians. Folks new to our city keep hearing about how great Montrose is, but unless you’re hip to all the new upcoming development that’s posted on this site, it’s really just a lot of vacant lots and uninspired strip malls. For example, I don’t think any Newstonian would be more impressed by the way lower Westheimer looks as compared to something more put together like Heights Mercantile or Heights MKT. Montrose Collective, among others, will certainly change that. It’ll just take a while.

I see a dumpster parked out front, and looks like a permit was pulled last September by Heights’ sushi hand roll restaurant Handies Douzo. Are they opening a second location?

I’m all for it opening, trust me. I own property less than half a mile from there on the other side of the spur. The area has cleaned up quite a bit since the Ion was announced. I just hope it continues to do so.

Not because it’s black owned. Because it’s 50 feet from a handful of tents along the feeder.

I hope it doesn’t turn into the infamous Midtown McDonald’s near the bus station.

What is the new law? Still lots of tents in the area, right along the 59 off-ramp.

The Montrose: Boutique Hotel At 2509 Dunlavy St.

Is this still happening? -
I must say, this is a great addition to the space that formerly was the site of Chelsea Market. Aesthetically speaking, especially with the improved landscaping, sidewalks, and lighting, it really makes the walk between the Museum District and Montrose across 59 much more pleasant. Well done!

I feel like most people use Google Maps or Waze these days. Heck I use Waze daily even though I know Houston like the back of my hand. Never know when a street/highway is extra backed up, so might as well.

Wouldn’t this site be considered close the freeway at less than a mile to 59 S?

The Allen: Mixed-Use Development At Allen Parkway & Gillette St.
clutchcity94 replied to jmontrose's topic in Going Up!
Can anyone confirm if the fitness center be an Equinox gym? “The pavilion is scheduled to open later this year, and DC Partners has already lined up a company to operate its fitness center, as well as a company to run the rooftop bar. Neither company could be named at this stage. But the bar will be operated by a “new-to-Houston company,” while the fitness center will be “run by the best fitness company in the city,” Contreras said. Both of those tenants are waiting on permits to begin the buildout of their respective spaces. “There is a lot of momentum for the fitness center to open before the end of the year," Contreras said.”- 1,654 replies

UNITi Montrose: 9-Story Apartments At 701 Richmond Ave.

Wouldn’t be surprised if this pocket of Montrose south of Richmond becomes Houston’s version of Rainey Street in Austin at some point in the future.- 236 replies
