  1. nvm I realize what it is now, I just had a brain fart. (For some reason I was thinking it was on the otherside, behind the Montague)
  2. Does anyone have a clue as to what they will be doing with this lot?
  3. Well for one there isn't a Wal-Mart near me (I go to Target). I haven't stepped foot in a Wal-Mart in a long time (years even). The last time I tried to I walked right out, it was extremely overcrowded. Also I find the quality of their food not very satisfactory as well as the variety. I will say this though, Target has some pretty good cloths for everyday wear. My job unfortunately has a dress code of suit and tie, which I don't think I can get at either Wal-Mart or Target. (If I could I would wear shorts and flip-flops everyday!)
  4. The upkeep of a boat of that size is just insane for most people. It would be cheaper to buy a new sailboat or boat and resale it every 5 years -- I have a long time friend that has done this for the past 15 years with his Beneteaus. He says at about 6+ years you will have more and more main. on a boat, so why not put that money into a new boat in which you can resale for a reasonable price (bearing in mind the economy is good for it at the time). If you have the funds and there is some personal value attached to it, why not! I think that would be pretty damn cool to live on a ship like that. But where would you live? (please don't say Kemah)
  5. The Inauguration was today. It wasn't very long. At about 10 I hear this loud music in my office and I look outside and see a huge gathering on the park. There is still music right now, but about half the people have left. I don't have my camera (which I am pissed about at the moment) so no pictures from up here. edit: The Inauguration was not for the park, but for city council and the major. (Just didn't want to confuse anyone)
  6. I thought Shara left to deal with her cancer. I know they did a special on her earlier this year and ABC still wants her back, but she only wants to do special projects and reports for ABC, which she has done. I grew up watching Shara and have always liked her and respected her.
  7. My resolutions are: getting a Concealed Handgun License and read at least one big book a month. I already work out 5 days a week. I already eat healthy. I already save money (that is easy being single).
  8. I don't know if the Y is "cruisy". I have never seen any homo horseplay (I don't use the locker/shower room that much though unless I am in a hurry and going somewhere right after the gym, otherwise I jog home and shower in peace)
  9. yes, all the grass for the great lawn is already laid down. As of right now they are adding the play ground structures and it looks like the are starting on the big lake.
  10. The Y bases your membership on your salary but I think it caps at something -- it is very reasonable for what you get.
  11. I have belonged to the downtown Y for about 2 years now and I like it as well. Even though my building downtown has a gym. Also I do know that the Y downtown is going to be completely renovated (I think by floor). Larry North is nice if you work in The Houston Center, otherwise you will have to pay for parking there, and it isn't open on Sundays I don't think.
  12. Wow! I literally laughed out loud when I read this! Niche you crack me up! (I can't believe we are talking about swimming in ____ on these forums, lol)
  13. It used to be a Sushi/Japanese restaurant. Started with an "M" I think.
  14. Isn't that a "retirement" community? Or so it was awhile ago.
  15. I don't think people mind their babies ____, but I'd rather not touch and or swim in someone elses ____!
  16. There is no excuse for this to even be happening. I think our water treatment facilities are unreliable and we need updated ones from the sounds of it. (that 850 or 805 million that is going to education could be spent on this, seeing as how people are wanting to reject the bond!)
  17. Um, I would think not! http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/5389411.html
  18. Not to mention the fat and calorie intake of chain restaurants are worse than fast food chains.
  19. I do find that the Macy's Downtown does lack some of the higher end clothing that the other Macy's around town have. The building does need updating inside as well as outside. -- If they could somehow bring windows to the other floors, that would be nice. The one thing I did notice this year is they seem to have either installed or started using the security bars on the doors and windows at night. I have lived downtown for about 5 years and have never seen those in use.
  20. Downtown on Saturday is almost always like this when there is something public at the GRB. Below is a link of what is or will be happening at the GRB. http://www.houstonconventionctr.com/meetin...s/calendar.html
