I dunno ... I think if I was that scared of traveling I'd probably just stay home ... or go somewhere where I felt safer.

You should have confronted him ... shouted or something. People like that think they can get away with stuff. When you call them out (loudly ... pots and pans if necessary) I think they'd think twice about it.

Average Three-Hour Commute Coming to Houston
houstonmacbro replied to sheeats's topic in Traffic and Transportation
I believe parts of NYC JFK (expressway?) was double-stacked, but I could be wrong. Going on foggy memories of visiting friends in NYC in the 80s. -
Average Three-Hour Commute Coming to Houston

That would be cool. I like all those air-ways of the future in movies like Metropolis and Fifth Element. Of course, flying cars would have to be invented too. But seriously, I want some super high-speed highways like 100+ mph to get from downtown to FM 1960 in 5 minutes or less. We need a Houston-bahn! -
This Is It

I also heard they moved from their current location. Seems like I read a newish review of them in HoustonPress.com http://blogs.houstonpress.com/eating/2008/...t_soul_food.php I've been a couple of times to the old location and having grown up on soul food can attest that theirs is good, but not the best I've ever experienced. -

Average Three-Hour Commute Coming to Houston

I mean really! What happened to telecommuting. The technology has finally materialized for at least much of the work that is done in offices, could be done at home or work centers closer to home. -
Last time I had a BK lunch, it almost came up afterwards. Not sure what they use for beef, but real cow it ain't. Or maybe it is real cow, just now the part that is usually made for burgers...

I believe their 26 year plan is off by a decade. If growth keeps occuring at this pace and no rapid rails or bus servies running to where people go, then it is going to happen sooner. -
Some are kinda nice. I don't like carrying more junk than I have to. When I do I sling my utilitarian Swiss Army laptop bag over my shoulder. To each his own, I guess.

Well, ISN'T it actually being shown here. The web is here just as it is in Europe. Is it any less racist because it's airing 3,000 miles away? I mean, we all just viewed it. Am I splitting hairs?

Metro's New "signature" Bus Service
houstonmacbro replied to editor's topic in Traffic and Transportation
When I lived in DC they used to run two levels of service along Georgia Avenue and other routes. One was the local that would stop at EVERY stop along the route. The other was the express route that would stop only at major intersections. I thought it was great. This sounds kind of like that. -

I was wondering about the race issue to in the original post. But I was trying to understand if it was integral to the story or not. The verdict is still out. And the whole thuggish part ... that was weird.

The disturbing part is why did the sandwiches smell so bad. I am now suspect of Subways. Ick.

If you like to bike, park somewhere else and bike over. I did that last weekend and had a blast. Although I didn't got into the zoo, the park area is very nice.
