  3. The 5,600-square-foot parcel at 1040 Studewood St sits on approximately 0.12 acres. It's a vacant lot in the greater Heights area. 1040 Studewood is located between 1044 Studewood St and 1028 Studewood St. On those properties are District H Strength & Fitness and Davis Hardware & Picture, respectively.
  4. A somewhat confirmation that two restaurants are planned for the 1016 Gessner parcel. @hindesky spoke with someone who constructs most (or all) of The Burger Joint and The Taco Stand restaurants. He noted the following in another post pertaining to the owner's other restaurant: https://www.houstonarchitecture.com/haif/topic/51839-633-w-20th-st/?do=findComment&comment=695277
  5. Thanks for the update. It's also possible the name could be The Eatery. I guess we'll have to wait for additional information.
  6. That's disappointing. I hope whomever purchases the property keeps the existing building.
  7. As mentioned in above posts , the proprietors of The Burger Joint and The Taco Stand have plans for a new dining concept on the 633 W 20th St and 637 W 20th St parcels. The name of the business could be The Eatery. In regards to the concept, @hindesky notes a construction worker relayed possible plans for a coffee shop. CultureMap recently spoke with one of the co-owners. The co-owner stated: "'...we have a concept in the works where I will be able to veer outside of the box more.' The restaurant or location wasn't provided in the article. However, it's likely the concept will be located on the aforementioned parcels.
  8. A proposed subdivision plat named Heights Eats was submitted to city's planning department on Friday. The plat consists of the 633 W 20th St and 637 W 20th parcels. According to the information submitted, developers the plat's purpose is to create one unrestricted reserve "A". The reserve size is 0.30 acres. I'm not sure when this will appear on the city of Houston Planning Commission agenda.
  9. A correction on my part: The Heights Clock Tower subdivision plat was submitted last month.

The name of the proposed subdivision plat is Heights Clock Tower. According to the information submitted, developers the plat's purpose is to create one unrestricted reserve. The reserve size is 1.36 acres. The subdivision plat was submitted in late December I'm not sure if this was on last week's planning commission agenda or not (I know, I could look and see.) 15. Below is a map outlining the 611 W 22nd St parcels. Heights Clock Tower is located on the parcels.
  16. A week and a half ago, Radom Capital spotlighted their office renovation. Their office is located at 631 W 22nd St in the Heights Clock Tower (611 W 22nd St.) Below are a few screenshots of the images posted to Radom Capital's Instagram post. The photos were taken by Francisco Ramos, a local architecture and interior design photographer. Instagram caption: 631 W 22nd St / Radom Office 2 (after and before) 631 W 22nd St was constructed in the 1920s as a standalone building that housed factory workers at the Heights Clock Tower complex next door. Over the years, it served as an antique store, artist lofts and corporate office space. We remodeled the space into the Radom Capital HQ, highlighting the original cypress clerestory replacing the boarded-up exterior with operable double-hung windows and creating 3 new green spaces. It’s a magical little structure. https://www.instagram.com/p/C1uyvuTpL46/
  17. Below are photos of Space Cadet and its signage. The images were posted to Space Cadet's Instagram. Space Cadet is a bar and grill located at 4002 N Main St. https://www.instagram.com/p/C07OCjQJ2mj/ https://www.instagram.com/p/C1Nvh3ipv0H/ https://www.instagram.com/p/C02tpAIgRA-/
  18. @Urbannizer , @Triton, and other moderators: If it's possible, please consider moving this from The Heights forum. I'm not sure why I created this topic here to begin with. Since there is not a forum specifically for the Garden Oaks , Oak Forest, and Independence Heights area, perhaps this is better suited for the Other Houston Neighborhoods forum in the meantime? https://www.houstonarchitecture.com/haif/forum/34-other-houston-neighborhoods/
  19. Exterior photos of the entrance at The Canary. One photo is a screenshot from a reel on the bar's Instagram page. The other photo is from Canary's social media. Located in the Oak Forest area, The Canary is a neighborhood bar & grill. The address is 963 Judiway St. https://www.instagram.com/reel/C1csoU2pbea/ https://www.instagram.com/p/C1w4E9zgeh2/
  20. The bar at 1920 Houston Ave has rebranded again. Following the rebrand of Spring Street Beer & Wine Garden to Spring Street Bar in 2022, the owners have changed the bar's concept and name. Around November or December, the bar rebranded to Breakfast Bar. The building was also renovated. Breakfast Bar is an all-day brunch restaurant and bar. Below is a photo of the exterior from Breakfast Bar's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/p/C0DY6_bgzcP/
  21. SideShow is open at 5317 Washington Ave, Suite A. It opened in mid-November, replacing Kung Fu Saloon. Based on the few videos I viewed on Tik Tok and Instagram, the bar has a carnival and circus theme. I have not driven down Washington Ave in a while, so I'm unsure if the exterior received a paint job. Although this is old news, I figured there should some kind of an update posted here.
  22. A plan review was filed last week for 2103 Lyons Ave, Bldg 2. Details from the permit: Use: 32,000 sf museum buildout 1-2-3-A3/M/S-1-B '15 IBC 100% Spk FCC Group: Non-residential alteration The permit is for the forthcoming Houston outpost of Meow Wolf.
  23. A few permits were filed last week for 3020 Houston Avenue: 1 story occupancy inspection permit Certificate of occupancy permit Records show a plan reviewing fee was purchased In September, but it was voided. According to the recent permits, plans for the property appear to be for an office. Select details from the permits: Occupancy report / office/ 810 sq ft FCC Group: Non-residential alteration 1 story occupancy inspection permit Certificate of occupancy permit
  24. I figured The Taco Stand is the restaurant planned for 1503 Westheimer for a while now. When I alerted several news outlets about this in 2022, a few said the restaurant's PR representative told them it's not true. Not surprising. Hopefully, press releases will be distributed soon for news outlets to report further details. I suspect, like with most of Bermudez's ventures, they'll probably give CultureMap the scoop first.
  25. Yeah, this is old news. There are several news articles from 2022 about The Taco Stand expanding to Webster. Additionally, The Taco Stand's Webster outpost at 118 El Dorado Blvd is discussed on the forum for the development it's going in: East Baybrook. https://www.houstonarchitecture.com/haif/topic/12808-baybrook-east-developments/ πŸ‘‡πŸΏπŸ‘‡πŸΏπŸ‘‡πŸΏπŸ‘‡πŸΏπŸ‘‡πŸΏ
