  1. Michelin-starred chef Dani Garcia is opening a restaurant in the Galleria. He's bringing Casa Dani to Houston. The Spanish-Mediterranean restaurant debuted in New York in December. Garcia partnered with C3, the delivery-focused concept creative branch and food hall curator of SBE. SBE is the hospitality company behind hotels like Hyde and Mondrian. Katsuya and Citizens Kitchen are a few of their restaurant and food hall concepts. The partnership includes Simon which owns the Galleria and a few others. From what I gathered in a 2020 press release, C3 has plans to expand Casa Dani to 15 locations nationwide. I assume the brick-and-mortar restaurants will be located in several Simon-owned malls. In December, an entity was filed for Casa Dani's Houston location. It's tied to SBE Restaurant Group, according to the filing submitted. I haven't been to the Galleria since Shake Shack opened. So, any ideas where this may land in the Galleria?
  2. From the article: Now open Frances Valentine, an American lifestyle brand that opened in September La Vie Style House, a luxury women's lifestyle brand that opened in October Coming soon Zimmermann, a luxury Australian fashion brand LoveShackFancy, a New York City-based lifestyle brand Rolex Boutique at de Boulle, a timepiece and vintage watch retailer Lunya, a women's clothing and sleepwear store YellowKorner, a photography gallery with locations around the world Icon Luxury Sound, an audio/visual equipment supplier Little Hen, a breakfast and brunch boutique restaurant founded in Miami Ti Amo Restaurant, an Italian restaurant The name of the Italian restaurant is no longer Ti Amo. The owners switched it to Bari sometime late last year. Houston Chronicle reported this is in an article listing anticipated restaurant openings for 2022 (but failed to inform readers it was previously reported as Ti Amo). Little Hen is taking over the space vacated by East Hampton Sandwich Co., according to Houston Chronicle.
  3. Back in October, Aaron Bludorn announced he and his team leased the Rice Village space formerly occupied by food hall Politan Row, 2445 Times Blvd. Details were light and there wasn't a name provided at the time. However, a very recent trademark filing indicates the name of the restaurant could be Navy Blue. There is also an Instagram account for the restaurant at @navybluehtx. And a domain for Navy Blue was registered a week and a half ago. I don't think there are any public renderings yet for this. It will be interesting seeing their vision for the space. https://houstonfoodfinder.com/news/breaking-news/aaron-bludorn-to-open-new-concept-in-houstons-rice-village/
  4. A member in a local food enthusiast Facebook group shared a photo of the signage you described. The signage has an empty space indicating another concept is coming soon, possibly to 2102 N Shepherd Dr.

  8. Houston Chronicle reported a few details about the TBA bottle shop coming to Montrose Collective, 888 Westheimer: "Radom teased a new wine bar and bottle shop, run by the former manager of "a very well-known Montrose restaurant" who has worked in Houston for a long time. It will serve a concise food menu of sandwiches and salads." https://preview.houstonchronicle.com/dining/exciting-new-restaurants-shops-coming-to-16809379 I think the bottle shop and cafe coming to Montrose Collective at 888 Westheimer Rd is probably Flora's. The name may also be Flora"s Bottle Shop. Flora's was planned for another location nearby in Montrose last year. However, going off Houston Chronicle's reporting, it seems the wine bar & cafe could be Flora's. Last spring, Flora's created an Instagram for its business. https://www.instagram.com/florasbottleshop/ https://florasbottleshop.com Looks like Flora's (Flora's Bottle Shop) is indeed opening its wine shop and sandwich cafe at Montrose Collective, 888 Westheimer. Over the weekend, Flora's updated their Instagram bio with the inclusion of Montrose Collective. The shop also posted an update to its page yesterday, as well as an Instagram story announcing their forthcoming retail shop and wine bar at Montrose Collective.
  9. @gene I think once the word gets out about Rocambolesc opening in Houston (1101 Uptown Park Blvd, Ste 10), it will become one of many anticipated new eateries in the city. It turns out the gelateria is from the Roca brothers. The Roca brothers are the force behind El Celler de Can Roca, a Michelin-starred restaurant that is also considered one of the best restaurants in the world. A related entity for the Houston location is connected to the owner of Spanish restaurants BCN Taste & Tradition and MAD. So, maybe Rocambolesc's Houston storefront is a franchised location or will be a joint venture between both parties. I don't know how I missed this. Gotta say, I'm stoked. I can't wait to see their design plans for the ice cream parlor. https://cellercanroca.com/en/universo-roca/rocambolesc
  10. Yep. I don't know if it's a second Handies Douzo location or not, even though that's the name listed. But it is a project from the team behind Handies Douzo. I reached out to them last year regarding their Montrose plans. No one responded. I also emailed reporters at Eater Houston, Houston Chronicle, Houston Food Finder, and others about this in early October of last year. Out of all the publications, I thought Eater would report this - it's the kind of information they typically report even if restaurants or bars choose not to comment until ready to announce on their own timeline. The chefs-owners of Handies Douzo and Kokoro seem to have a handful of other projects in the works. In addition to this one, there's: • one in planning on Washington Ave (previously reported by Eater as Fuku, but the publication never published an update of the tentative new name Aiko) • one possibly still planned for Stomping Grounds (Garden Oaks) named Sora Sushi • one in planning for the Autry Park mixed-use development.
  11. A new Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing shows Austin-based bar Lustre Pearl is coming to EaDo's East Village development at 1291 St. Emanuel St. The estimated date of completion is late fall 2022. So, it could open by the end of the year or early 2023 if there aren't any major delays, I'm assuming.
  12. I figured. Will this be a regular Star Cinema Grill or something a little different than their other locations? I missed the announcement.
  13. Listed on the site plan for Uptown Park a gelateria named Rocambolesc. According to a Google search, it's a sweet shop from Spain serving soft-serve/ice cream and chocolate. Rocambolesc will be located at 1101 Uptown Park Blvd, Ste 10. It's the unit previously leased to Executive Baskets, adjacent to Songkran and Etoile Cuisine et Bar. https://rocambolesc.com/en/
  14. Regine's, the Mediterranean restaurant replacing the Tasting Room at 1101 Uptown Park Blvd, Ste 18, is shown on the site plan for Uptown Park. The site plan is located on Edens' webpage.
  15. Glosslab is opening a location at Uptown Park. The business is listed on the Uptown Park site plan on Edens' website.
  16. Although we're awaiting news on the future of the River Oaks Theater today, it's possible this may be a Star Cinema Grill or an extension of the brand in some way. Last month, I saw a new filing for River Oaks Theater Inc. connected to the owner of Star Cinema Grill. I didn't think much of it at the time, but I'm glad to see the business will likely be saved. I hope the new owner and management will keep the indie spirit of River Oaks Theater. However, cosmetic interior renovations would be great for this venue. Star Cinema Grill theaters are nice. I've always enjoyed the seating and overall experience much better than Studio Movie Grill. But I think IPic is superior to both. My fingers are crossed that the River Oaks Theater will be similar to Star Cinema Grill (or IPic) if renovations are planned. I am looking forward to what's to come.

  18. Does anyone know what's planned for 2102 N Shepherd Dr? A banner announcing a car wash was on the property, at least in 2021 when I noticed it last. It's been a while since I visited the area, so I don't know if the banner is still there. I know Shawn Bermudez owns the property. And according to a post in a local Facebook group, Bermudez is renovating the lot soon. He's opening a business called Happy Go Lucky, which will possibly have a drive-thru lane. The post wasn't clear on the business' concept.
  19. I don't know the full histoy of the 2102 North Shepherd Dr property. In recent years, however, several automobile businesses operated on the lot. Second photo is from a Facebook post. A few years ago, Shawn Bermudez (Pistolero's, The Burger Joint, Present Company) purchased the lot along with a few others nearby.
  20. We'll see. Patterson Park management claimed the bar was going to open more than a few times. Previously, last summer, then the fall, and December were anticipated for the bar's debut. There were also hiring posts shared with an estimated arrival too. I haven't looked at the progress since 2020. Does anyone have updated images of the bar's exterior?
  21. A guy behind Sincerely Tipsy shared the news about this on social media last May. I think there was a TABC notice uploaded for the bar summer or fall of 2021. Sincerely Tipsy is taking over the Habitation Realty office at 5115 Washington Ave. The property was listed on Loopnet until late May 2021. https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/5115-Washington-Ave-Houston-TX/21520015

  23. Houston Chronicle has more details about Chelsea Oyster Bar than the article from Water Houston. Chelsea Oyster Bar will be located at 888 Westheimer (I don't know the suite number) in Montrose Collective. Blurb from Houston Chronicle: An oyster bar called Chelsea is also in the works by a Dallas-based group that has tapped a yet-to-be-disclosed Houston chef. The concept will have a large patio space shaded by live oak trees, and serve oysters, seafood and drink classics like martinis. https://preview.houstonchronicle.com/dining/exciting-new-restaurants-shops-coming-to-16809379
