  1. I agree but with Houston drivers some people would feel more comfortable bicycling on a separate path.
  2. The sidewalks should be large enough for pedestrians and bicyclist to take to rail stop.
  3. Soft opening in less than two weeks. https://www.facebook.com/events/166474410433767/
  4. 'I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.' I agree something needs to be done.
  5. Well damn... I kept putting off going there thinking it would always be open.
  6. That would be awesome but would probably attract too many dog walkers...
  7. It might not be Uber but people will be riding in Johnny Cab in the future.
  8. What about something artsy on a smaller scale like 'The Bean' in Chicago?
  9. her... http://abc13.com/news/2016-grad-dies-after-overdosing-at-fpsf/1377307/
  10. I'll walk around when I get back home in 3 weeks and try to take some pictures. Also found this link that has more pictures: https://ssl.uh.edu/news-events/stories/2016/April/0428Arch.php
  11. Not really sure what you mean by this. The pictures in this article were posted in the Third Ward around Dowling St. I saw some from their previous project in but haven't seen these.
  12. Yeah MidMain in the rendering could use better lighting and more places to go. I still enjoy going to Double Trouble, Alley Cat, and Continental Club.
  13. This is actually a good idea. I'm not a selfie, Instagram, snapchat person but people really get into these things. I'll admit even I took a picture of my reflection in 'The Bean.'
  14. Maybe Houston needs a swimming hole is attached to the Houston project.
  15. It's definitely not St. Augustine on the hill at Miller.
  16. As someone that lives near Emancipation Park I usually go shopping at HEB on Alabama or Disco Kroger. It's really not that bad to make the drive over to either of these grocery stores. There is a food Co-op on the corner of Elgin and Dowling that I've bought stuff from on occasion. Although I've found it easier to swing by the other grocery stores on my way home. I don't do fast food so I can't speak on that one but I go to the CVS on Elgin. As for treating your kids not really sure what kind of establishment qualifies for that. Cream burger near UH has snow cones and I've been there with my gf and her daughter.
  17. I finally got around to taking the train to this place and it's an easy walk to the venue during the day. Ok here comes the bad part the SB Quitman station was packed with vagrants. I wouldn't chance that non sense by myself and unless metro police is there every night I won't be recommending rail to go here at night.
  18. From Cody on swamplot "Until the city government gets over its hard on for cars and parking, these problems are going to persist. . We have a commercial property in midtown that’s seen its opening delayed by MONTHS as we work on parking. And this place will only be open at night (when street parking around isn’t used much). It’s surrounded by new residential (meaning lots of people will walk there). There is a light rail stop just a few feet away (less need for cars). They’ve secured several valet spots around it. And it’s a few minutes from the existing dense walkable montrose/midtown. . The hang up now? The city wants yet MORE parking before they can open. The tenants secured a lot that’ll give them the extra spots they need but it’s 50 or so feet too far from the building to be considered. . Why is the city involved in this at all? If they don’t secure the parking the ‘need’ (based on market demand) they’ll have fewer customers. But if they’re customers don’t care about the parking, why should the city? . This kind of stuff just encourages the car culture by insisting people support it. There are so many cool concepts that could be opened if the city didn’t demand so much paved wasted parking"
  19. We need more parking garages with GFR and the option to build residential or commercial on top at a later date.
  20. I just had a great experience on @Jet! Thanks Jennifer and the @JetHeads! #JetHeads
