  1. Walking around downtown during the day there are "Houston Ambassadors" promoting the tunnels. I met this woman in Atlanta that mentioned the tunnels like it was cool thing to check out. For me personally when meeting friends for lunch I try to find the closest tunnel entrance to the meeting place.
  2. Grade separated limited stop commuter rail that travels same route as westpark with connectors(bus/train) would be nice. Stops East to West would be Downtown >Greenway Plaza>Galleria>Chinatown>Energy Corridor>Grand Parkway.
  3. good luck with that because for some people trains = socialism which is practically communism...
  4. "I think that as we get more rail transportation, we will alleviate the traffic. And we need more rail in Houston, as our Main Street line has shown between the Medical Center and downtown and all the apartments that have been built there." --Gerald Hines
  5. I spoke with my girlfriend that sets rent pricing(not Houston market). She said "Under ideal situations you offer concessions(free rent) before a sale. In the Houston market it's probably due to rent projections during funding and matching what the competition is doing."
  6. Yea keep showing green space that requires funding outside of TXDOT... /s
  7. So increased taxes once the Pierce is gone is the only that will likely cause something to be done with this property.
  8. Wow this looks amazing! I work in O&G so I get to see this out in the field but I always enjoy well done interactive exhibits.
  9. Spoke with my friend and they said construction is still a few months out.
  10. They keep putting the park in the renderings trying to sell this thing. If the park doesn't happen this will be a huge loss for EADO.
  11. I've seen markers left by UH of students in the community designating former business and designs for future projects. We've probably strayed way off topic...
  12. That's the thing about the internet you don't really know people. As an African-American I chose Third Ward based on price and location, I chose Houston for diversity. At no point did I mention a "need" to diversify Third Ward. I'm still trying to understand how all the entities involved in the future of Third Ward plan to accomplish their goal of preservation.
  13. In my area of Third Ward the residents of older non-renovated homes is more diverse than you think. I wonder how those residents feel when politicians and some residents speak about maintaining a predominantly African-American community. I understand not wanting to displace current residents but currently the only thing I see being done is preventing development.
  14. I'm going to go ahead and call it... "The Pool That Put Houston on the Map!"
  15. Usually when I hear about pools like this I'm figuring it's some hotel in Asia.
  16. Are you talking about the area under the Spur?
  17. As a new resident of Third Ward I'm curious to see how things develop. I've attended Midtown TIRZ, Emancipation Economic Development, Houston Improvement Plan meetings, Lots of ideas on what should be done to preserve the community but HCAD is in control. Most of my area is still empty lots so I'll take a home of any type being built. It's better than a lot of illegally dumped trashed.
  18. I've been out of town the past few weeks. Is the tent city under the freeway still there?
  19. Nah it's the large open area under the freeway, unused surface lots, and unsupervised Wheeler Station.
