Yeah, that's per the rendering. It's been there. I saw two guys in yellow vests working on the north side 6th floor today. Just those two guys. This one is going to take a while to complete.

Is HAIF going to freak out that a surface lot will be created? What is wrong with street parking on Oak Ridge?
-
It might be a Google Chrome issue. I have the same issue on two separate Ipads. I switched to Safari, however, and the problem doesn’t exist. Something changed to create this issue. Oh well…

Nice pics. Not sure if you changed cameras or changed how you upload images but I can no longer view your images on my Apple tablets. I can see them just fine on my Android phone. I have this same problem with other blogs. I can see everyone else's images just fine on my Apple tablets. 🤷♂️

You'd better come up with a better selling point than this!

The city's plan of attack is fairly obvious... "The mayor has been very open about his concerns with the 11th Street project. What started out as a request for a safe crossing at Nicholson and 11th Street ended up a bike lane project that makes it difficult for emergency apparatus to maneuver and has negatively impacted a business. He is reviewing this along with other projects," said spokesperson Mary Benton. There is no mention of traffic. I've been critical of this project because it looks like a perpetual construction zone. Having said that, I support improved walkabity in the city. If the bike lanes are removed I hope a light is added at the Nicholson intersection. I would also advocate for more pedestrian islands. It would be a mistake to revert this road to 4 lanes. At worst I would add a turn lane similar to Studewood, even though Studewood itself could use a few more pedestrian islands, especially near White Oak. I wonder which "business" was negatively impacted? My guess is the Chicken Shack, but who knows...

W. 34th and Ella is NOT the Heights. If you are going to organize this site then please do it right. Otherwise why create subforums at all.- 25 replies

Was Doyle’s the place that would give you a white bib to cover yourself while eating spaghetti? I vaguely remember this practice but I can’t recall the restaurant.

Giuseppe’s on Louetta is worth the drive. Doyle’s never struck me as an Italian mafia-vibe place.

Bike lanes are good for business

People still do it anyway. I lay on my horn when cars do that. Makes me so mad. Some people feel so entitled that the law doesn't apply to them...like the people that walk their dogs without a leash... "special" people... -

There was a good bisnow article on the port this week as well… Houston’s Y/Y growth is almost flat while other large ports are down double-digits.. Slight Decline In Traffic Indicates Port Houston Is Sustaining Its Growth -
Viva Center: Mixed-Use Tech-Hub At 11445 Compaq Center West Dr.
hbg.50 replied to mrfootball's topic in The Great Northwest
There was a data center on Cutten but not many people worked there. Everything else was on the west side of 249. There is a beautiful sun dial 9/11 Memorial across the street from the three main office buildings. When HPE relocated they left the Memorial behind. It is made of limestone boulders and could have been moved. I believe 2 or 3 Compaq employees died in the WTC.- 40 replies

2026 FIFA World Cup Matches In Houston At NRG Stadium
hbg.50 replied to texas911's topic in Sports and Stadia
Looking back at some of those old posts and articles from 2018 it’s uncanny how much of the speculation came to fruition, like the sites for the semis and final. I had not realized Houston might have a chance to be a hub for officials. I know Dallas is salivating to get the communications center, hub for officials, and home base for one or two teams. That’s the next big announcement expected from FIFA. -
I've never had their baked goods but I love their story - quintessentially Houston! https://www.magnolfrenchbaking.com/

No interest in tomorrow's elections?? @Blue Dogs no big predictions? Will tomorrow be a day of reckoning for Sheila Jackson Lee and Kim Ogg? I'll be watching intently. Lina Hidalgo will be dancing in the street if Ogg loses and it looks like she will. Will Colin Allred be the opponent for Ted Cruz in November? He appears to be a formidable opponent if so. It feels like more changes are afoot... 🙂 With the exception of Lizzy Fletcher... she seems to have her act together. Very smart of her to say "reproductive rights" rather than abortion. Other Democrats should take note.

That’s a shoebox on Shepherd…very popular but I’m not a fan of their tacos. I guess the barbacoa is ok. Fajitas are ..

Memorial Park At 6501 Memorial Dr.
hbg.50 replied to themidtownguy's topic in Uptown and Galleria Area
Professional photo shoots should be regulated (as they already are). The bigger issue is the public having to pay for parking (e.g., Houston Arboretum). It’s not an issue for me but I can understand it being an issue for others.
