This Amegy building looks huge.

I saw the major pour today when I drove by but the tower shall be a surprise! Hopefully a pleasant surprise and not a Randall Davis surprise.

Nothing's been designed, but there's now a construction permit listed in HBJ. $24 million - superstructure and garage.
$24M doesn't seem like enough to build a building. Is it?

There is a huge amount of people that go between houston and Dallas weekly. Plus it will increase with the number of people moving to both cities. Plus there are people who would rather take a train than drive or fly. This project has a lot going for it.
Perfectly stated. And I agree 100%. It'll be used way more than people imagine.

Thank you for the great photos.
I am happy with how this building fits in on Post Oak. It looks great from all directions with that nice cluster of high rises. I wonder if the building will be built where Ninfas was, or if that'll be scrapped now.

Damn that's going to age terribly!
I am thinking it's terribly aged already. I love it when they come out of the chute dated!

Did we ever find a rendering for the new building?

More mixed-used along the lines of City Centre coming?
We can certainly hope! It would be fantastic. A hotel in the area would be nice, too.

This should be great news!
Hers is the working link:

Earlier today:
Thank you for that nice photo! I haven't been over there in a few weeks. It is amazing how much that street has changed in a few short years.

The old funeral home is being demolished now. I don't know how to post the photo from my phone but it's almost gone.

Ok. I now realize that the author of that article is a man, not a woman. Check out his website if you like wasting some time. The photo he uses of himself is priceless.
I wonder if it bothers him that for 100 years before his beloved apartment was built it was a farm. Oh, and the farmers and animals and pastures got "booted". I assume that's totally different.

A pretty scathing piece from a local Kirby neighbor about the Hanover River Oaks
Seems a bit bitter to me. 30- 40 years as a tenant. Likely at below market rates. They could've owned a place and controlled their destiny.

What have I wrought?
The perfect release from griping about traffic, etc.
And I thank you for that!

On the tenth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me:
Ten Ex-ca-vators
Nine builders renovating
Eight tower cranes
Seven Ground Floor Retailers
Six taller towers
FIVE GOLDEN RINGSSSS
Four dozers dozing
Three Sky Houses
Two construction loans
and a tower with no pub-lic ren-der-ingggggg
The most frustrating part is no rendering! WTH??

Speaking of overkill. 11/23 through the fence. Four dozers dozing...
Four dozers dozing,
Three French Hens,
Two Turtle Doves
and a Partridge in a Pear Tree.

great pics towerspotter!
Except for the "bugly" Cosmo hogging the spotlight.

So are there any renders of the project or is it going to look an awful lot like Mark Wallace?
And my second question is a pre-empt: is it going to have GFR?
That's hilarious.

...that's not a great argument though. You could insert anything into the statement "people are going to do x thing so we should do it too" but that doesn't mean we should legalize weed, for example. There are better arguments for that sort of legalization, and lawyers/judges are not going to listen to things like that.
If Texans want casinos they're going to need a better case than that.
You are right, but I'm talking about things that are legal anyway. (Which I guess weed is too, in some states).
How about the first part of my comment - all the Texas $$$ going to LC?
-
There is a strip center in the Woodlands that already looks like that... And you can't really compare something that is built in Oklahoma to anything that could be potentially built here.
Have you been to L'auberge in Lake Charles? Really cool place. The hotel is awesome, the rooms are great, they throw pool parties with live bands (some loungey, some MTV spring break stuff), Probably the best Casino in the state. Coushatte is a nice place, but kinda out of the way. And what are all the licence plates in the parking lot? you guessed it, Texas.
I only want for Galveston to prosper, bring in some more cash and tourists. I mean, have you been to the Mardi Gras down there? TRASH central...
I agree with you 100%. All Texas plates in Lake Charles.
And they have nice new roads, etc. People are going to gamble anyway, so we should keep the $$$ here.

Gorgeous. It would look good where Allen Parkway Village is currently located, or anywhere on the bayou.
Video is super cheesy Vegas - but wow!

Or maybe he's talking out two sides of his mouth? Seemed like he had a rough morning.
I think it's crazy for him to talk like that.
He's got some ulterior motive is my guess.

COH approved the purchase at 424 Westheimer- I just read Cohen's enewsletter- my commuter is acting up and the cut and paste went pooey.
Maybe someone else can post the article?
I'm glad to hear that. The cost is high, but it won't be cheaper 10 years for now so I am glad they "bit the bullet".
In the 80s they wanted to close Westheimer from Montrose or so to Taft and make it a walkable restuarant area. Think how cool that would've been. This park will make our quality of life better and increase property values all around it. Houston is on a positve roll for adding green space!
Also, I remember in the 80s they thought mass transit was too expensive. Not any cheaper now.

Diggin' up bones like Randy Travis here, but a bill that would legalize casinos in Texas' major cities has apparently been introduced to the state legislature.
What do you think are the odds of this thing passing?
It would be instant development for every major city in Texas.
Keeping my fingers crossed.

I would give the odds to just below slim to none. I wish our Texas $$$ wouldn't go to Lake Charles, but alas, it just a wish.
