Wow! Is that really it or are you teasing us?!

Hah! So it's not. Cool
They should've done a hotel there. That's what is needed in Upper Kirby/River Oaks.

Why can't they just scale it back to the original $40 million dollar version ...they'd only be $7 million off and that version looked better anyways. Why does a glorified visitors center need friggin classrooms anyways. You're not building the damn Museum of Natural Science... talk about over thinking it. Too much added, now it's too expensive. Just dumb...
Now it won't be finished in time for the Super Bowl, an it'll be an eyesore! Grrrrrr.

Davis didn't figure the view under the skirts would be quite so exposed.
And any one living in any Randall Davis project had a lot of nerve to gripe about any other project. EVER.
I can believe they are suing to stop it! When will the madness end on trying to control property that you don't own?'

Geez - 15 and 16! How could they be so lost at that age to think that's ok?

That's awesome news as we will need a big ass crane in the sky in 2016 and for the Super Bowl.

Backwards
A bunch of knuckleheads to think we don't need to have mass transit. And a lot of it.

It might slow a bit for a while, but this article reminds us we won't be down for long:
I agree. We may be down for a few years but it had to happen sooner or later. The pay rates of the people I hire and work with have gotten ridiculous. There will be permanent damage though. We are sending much more work overseas in an effort to lower costs. Entire career paths that used to exist in Houston will end or be greatly diminished because of this downturn. There are people in India who will work for $2 an hour to do things we pay $90 an hour for here.
Hey! I didn't write that quote. All I wrote was we won't be down for long. Jgriff, did you hijack me? The rest of the quote starting with "I agree" was not me.

I guess it is going to be built this time, the sign now has advertising on it and a sale office opened up next to the future building.
I'm going to guess a graffiti filled sign is coming soon. Just saying...

For the largest city to be 7th on the list isn't too bad, IMHO.

Is this the right place for this?

No. He has a rider added to the budget every year that says federal money cannot be used on light rail in his district unless very specific conditions are met, which are fairly unattainable.
There is nothing stopping metro from building it, so long as it is funded locally.
It's so frustrating that Texas turns down so many federal $$$.

I have a feeling it will look like ...
Wow. What a bold and original look! I'm thinking that would only be the 179th time for that look inside the loop.

I just got out of a meeting where I was informed that an HDPE project we were bidding on has been canceled due to low oil prices. There goes the theory that oil prices don't affect downstream projects.
What's HDPE?

I stopped reading this when he suggested that this was our "Rodeo Drive" (of course Rodeo pronounced in the other way not the Houston Rodeo way). The whole article is very cynical, and reeks of sweaty palms and fear of change. I got news for him....Post Oak sucks to drive on! Period!
"Rodeo Drive, perhaps Houston's best tourist attraction, will be no more." LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLLLLLL
Nasa...nope. Our fabulous museum district......nope. Downtown.....nope. Buffalo Bayou.....nope. A congested, mismanaged, poorly planned, over indulgent, strip mall flanked road.....yes. yes this is our best attraction! Douchebag.
These mo'fo's don't understand we have to get mass trans! He needs to get out more.

I thought this had some good points.

This building can clearly be seen from Rice University. I was surprised how "fat" this building is in the skyline.
Who you calling fat?
Actually, driving over out hills (I mean overpasses) I'm shocked at howany of these buildings are popping up over the trees. The Hines building on San Felipe is noticeable from the TCJESTER railroad overpass.

great illustrations dakota79! biliton's constructions methods look expert and precise. it just seems like they are going to be on time and on budget....
Thank Urbanizer for the illustrations. I was just admiring them and commented how massive it looked.

I drive by the intersection of Main and Richmond at least 3x a week for the past 3 or 4 years I had noticed an increase this winter with the number of homeless who used the benches at Peggy Point Plaza. Now there is a fence. I wondered if the increase of homeless was the reason behind fencing this park.
I drive by there almost dally, and there were 20-40 homeless people and trash everywhere. I assume that church must own the fountain or it wouldn't have been able to be fenced. (Not public property). If they would dress up that metro station, figure out a way to get the homeless camp under the elevated 59 hwy cleaned up, it would make a huge difference.
That, and redevelop that nasty Sears! How could it possibly make money?

I just saw an article about that! I wish we had just one forward thinking, super rich company here! California has them all with Google, Facebook etc. At least we aren't Detroit!
Here's the BizJornal article on Google espansion plans.

Well - that would be more detailed than he's ever done! Usually it's cinder block.
