^ Nope, I do not know anything.

I've been wondering the same for years. For one, there could be a lawsuit regarding the height of the development blocking views from the 3 other residential towers. Just like the proposed tower drama at San Felipe & Post Oak. Could also make a nice green space or small park. Maintain the grass.  That costs money though.

They can sue all they want for blocking their views but they won’t be successful. Every building blocks (or changes) someone’s view.

Not odd at all. I think of it as a chance for Uptown to plug in the holes in its linear skyline. There's a gap between Williams Tower and US59 where those skinny beige stucco condo towers are. This will fill in that gap and because the site is basically just a field, this will densify Uptown.

I meant odd in a good way as Williams has stood tall and proud, yet alone for 30+ years.

Related to the earlier post regarding the Half-Price Books site, it seems the leases will all be finished by 2020:

    https://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2018/05/29/pmrgs-ceo-rick-kirk-on-merger-i-couldnt-shoot-any.html

    From the article:

“The company's also working on development plans for its land at the corner of Montrose Boulevard and Westheimer Road, which currently houses a Half Price Books, a Spec's, a Mattress Firm and a 24-hour emergency clinic. By 2020, Kirk said that all the tenants' leases in the shopping center will have expired. Though specifics are light, he said the company will likely develop a mixed-use project with restaurants, multifamily and maybe even a hotel.

‘It needs to be a little different to fit that neighborhood," Kirk said. "We don’t want to build something that’s totally out of step with the vibe in that area.’”

A hotel would be great!  Of course, LaColombe D'or will have a some hotel space in their new tower.  The views from this corner would be incredible.

I hope that the drab appearance of the stucco is a factor of lighting and/or how those particular potatoes cameras captured colors.

There is no hope.  RD has Vegas taste.  He is always able to sell them though.  The most disappointing one to me is his Cosmopolitan. Ugly color and squatty. He should have put a spire or something on top.  It ruins the view of Post Oak from the south. Hopefully Hanover's (or whoever is building where Ninfas and ATT were) will completely block it.

According to Skyscraper Dictionary a supertall is "a skyscraper that is at least 300 meters or 1,000 feet tall".
JP Morgan Chase Tower is described as being 974' or 1002', depending on the source, so it might qualify. What other building did you have in mind?

Thank you.  I'm sure @Houston19514 knew exactly what I meant.  Maybe in Beaumont TCB tower would be considered super tall. We haven't had a signature high rise since the 80's, and certainly no super tall like Chicago is getting.

The reviews online for Biggios might be starting to improve on balance but they still do seem to have significant issues (if you believe the reviews).  I have not been back since my first experience. Has anyone been in the last month?  Was service credible and efficient?

I have been a few times in the last month to watch the Astros on their screens and grab a burger.  It is an easy place to eat, and then my kids go to Discovery Green afterwards. I really like taking out of towners there as it shows off the area, and that downtown is alive.

So where is this development at with the overall build? I haven't been in this area in a while. I know it's being done in phases but what phase is this on? Really excited to see this city become so damn urban.

Me too.  We need the density.  As far as I can tell the only way to get Texans out of their cars is to make parking expensive and difficult.  New York City is hot and humid in the summer and yet without thinking you can walk 20 blocks.  5-10 years ago you wouldn't see a pedestrian in Houston unless their car broke down.  We do need some pedestrian overpasses though for Westheimer at Highland Village, Allen Parkway, Post Oak @ Westheimer etc so we don't get mowed down!  I love this city though and we are living here in a very exciting time.
