Yesterday I saw what looked like core soil test drilling going on right next to the Verizon building. Maybe something is going to happen after all.

They removed all the fencing and have quite a few work trucks on the site today.

That really, really ugly building is behind Carraba's on W. Main@Kirby. It was supposed to have a Randall Davis Chateau a'la **** on it but he didn't close. So what got built turned out to be worse. You must drive by and see it in real life if you want to see a/c ductwork and other "attic" stuff veiled in ugly glass that has zero design.
(Can you tell I think the bldg is hideous?)

Metro gets voters to approve train
"We don't want a train! Buses are more efficient use of money!"
Metro changes plans to a bus line
"You can't do a bus line! You promised a train!"
Knuckleheads!

Hasn't London already had subways for nearly a century?
Yes. But instead of thinking they can't add more they spend the money and do it right. (Expanding the network)

Meanwhile we have 15 miles of grade crossing!

Maybe moving people from OKC will speed up the new tower. One can dream, right?

I agree. Really great news. We can at least "hope" to join the rest of the world, with options other than cars. Here's the HBJ LINK.

The Goode Co Taquiera was a Del Taco and I enjoyed it. Of course I was young (poor) and thought that was the fancy place to go.

We are impossible to please on here.
We always cry: "we want retail! We want retail"
Sears has stood in that area for decades. It's surrounded by a ton of empty lots and no other similar department options for millions of miles but we are anxious to get rid of it.
When i lived in that area I would bike to Sears all the time.
I could understand if the area was filled with attractive buildings and tons of shopping options and sears was just sticking it's ugly middle finger up at us then yeah the pitchforks would be justified, but why are we so anxious to see the only major department store in both the midtown and downtown area go away?
I hope it hangs on for dear life
Because it's nasty, lifeless and brings down the neighborhood. Let it go!

Quit sending our federal dollars to other cities!

Not sure if this should be in the Midtown or Montrose section - Mr Stewart was murdered last night around 11:30 at his residence on W. Bell near Stanford....
Geez. Can't people just work for a living like the rest of us? And murdered for what? A car? A wallet? Seriously upsetting.

Hines said, "Integrity and a sense of responsibility to the community. Thinking about the whole community, and not just your part of it."
Seriously. If our ridiculous politicians, road builders and NIMBYS of Afton Oaks could look at the whole picture they would understand! It's about all of us, our kids and those that come after us. We must look at the benefits of our entire community.
Hines is a true asset to our city.

The article says Willie Gs is going here. Guess their Post Oak lot is going to be up for redevelopment soon
That makes sense. That is a large tract willie G's is on. We need a 50-60 story there. Then I would be happy!
-
I was thinking this as well.
Oh how I would love a completely refaced GRB.
I agree. It's only been a dated design since day one! Embarrassing. I go to DC a lot for conventions and their convention center is gorgeous.

Guys, I knew about this building and the others around and how tall they are and what they look like. My sister works for the graphic designing of the brochures, I knew about this but couldn't say. I knew about the name change and everything. I just can't say anything about this but yea...that's all I can say.
Huh? I knew I wanted to know about a lot of buildings but knew that I didn't know. That's all I can say.

The HBJ updated the story to say the permit was filed in 2013 (when oil was $100 barrel) and that Apache has no immediate plans for the site.
How long is the permit good for?

Wow!!! Such great news. Did not expect this at all. I am happy to hear. Same design from before?

Wow! Great looking building. I can see the link with the photos but when I attach it the subscription requirement shows. GRRR. They are saying it'll be the tallest residential west of the Mississippi. Shouldn't we have that?

I give this a 5% chance of happening. In fact, Ashby may be built first.
And that sign is the sleaziest thing I've seen in years! Is he selling boats in Miami?
-
I am pretty sure he borrowed that coat from Bea Arthur on the Golden Girls.

This may have been corvered elsewhere, but I was with a friend looking at The Wilshire, and the salesperson there told me LaPeep and Sullivan's has been sold, and Equinox is building a 17 story or so "new concept hotel.
